Vanderbilt University Acceptance Probability

Hi. I've recently become obsessed with Vanderbilt University. And I was wondering how my chances are. Please be honest so that I will be prepared to see a rejection letter. Also is there any way I can improve my chances of admission? I plan on studying the pre-medicine track. Thanks for any feedback. BTW, I applied REGULAR DECISION.

Bumpppppppp

Well, your GPA isn’t great. Test scores don’t ever make anyone actually stand out. And your ECs are average for Vanderbilt.

Do you have any idea of how many kids in your school go to elite institutions per year? That might make a difference…

We usually send 5-10 people a year to top 20/Ivy schools.
I forgot to mention my mission work in India… I Coordinated Medical Camps in poor rural areas of India with doctors willing to volunteer for my cause. We were able to reach out to 1,700 children over the course of 5 weeks. (this was what my essay was on.
Thanks for the feedback.

bumpppppppp

hellooooooo?

Vanderbilt: Reach

Do you have a safety or an acceptance letter?

Yes, I have been accepted to some schools so far. Most notably, UW-Madison and U of I.

I could honestly see you getting in as much as I could see you getting denied. I’d say it’s about a 50/50 change because of your slightly lower GPA. I really hope you make it though! try to show some interest in the school to your admissions counselor.

High reach. Good luck!

Thanks! Any more opinions?

Your ECs are very lack luster but you do have a fairly diverse range. I would say its a reach.

SPEAKING OF EC’S, I DONT THINK ANYONE READ MY COMMENT (4th on the thread). Thanks for the feedback!

It’s a reach. Maybe a 10-20% chance you’re in. To give you an idea, I was denied ED 2 with a 1450 SAT and 2/420 class rank and good ECs.

I could try a more exact calculation of your chances if you really need them. As exact as it can get, I mean — using parchment. Could I get a peek at your essay?

Joel, I’m sorry about the deny. It sucks that things like these happen. :(

Wow Joel! Your Stats are awesome. Im shocked that you did not get in, but I guess thats a testament to how difficult it is to get into this university. Thanks for the reality check haha. @ Philovitist, I actually got a 28% chance on Parchment haha. I Don’t know how accurate the percentage is but I guess I’ll find out! But to be honest, I’m not very comfortable disclosing my essay. But thanks for the offer of reading it.

I understand! But seriously, parchment’s the best you can do for chancing unless you can find someone with inside knowledge to consult. >.>

I don’t think essay matters that much. Vanderbilt is score oriented. There were few 32 ACTs that got in ED1 but after that you are competing with IVY rejects and that is going to be tough with 32.
