Vanderbilt University Early Decision II

Hey everyone. I thought I'd make this thread. Where's everyone from? Does everyone have all his/her material in?

i'm from illinois!

yup yup :D

im so excited…

I’m from Tennessee, and I submitted everything a week ago. I’m so anxious for February…

damn, i wish i could’ve applied early, but I have to wait to see about financial aid.

is the EDII binding??

yes. it is binding.

im from cali…probly wont get in with my stats lol but i wasnt doing ED II anywhere else so might as well do it to vanderbilt! ive never visited or anything…all i know is its prestigious. : ] i guess if i got in thatd be awessoomme but probly like 0.00001% chance.

but do u guyz know if i send in my ED agreement paper in later, will it matter? my counselor hasnt signed it yet. idk why they make the date jan 1st…

^ from my experience applying to Vandy ED1, the ED agreement is one of the most important parts in being a ED applicant. Without that paper postmarked on time, i don’t think admissions will consider you a ED applicant-they’ll evaluate your application later, with the Regular decision applicants.

I had a similiar issue with this. My counselor failed to send in my ED letter, and when I called admissions the day before deadline, they said that it was really important to turn in if i wanted to be considered an ED applicant. So I faxed it overnight. I would suggest calling admissions and asking for options.

Also, don’t bring yourself down! I’m sure you’re a more competitive applicant than you think you are. After all, we’re our own worst critic! I seriously thought I wouldn’t be accepted but I was so shocked when I got in
so just hope for the best!

oh no haha like i REALLY probly wont get in. its the truth. maybe i shud provide some stats for u : ] 1850 sats, 4.1 w, 3.73 uw. first generation asian indian. raised 1000 dollars for community service program. that mightve helped at harvard but maybe not. its not really that great compared to what most kids do to get into ivies. what were ur stats if u dont mind me asking? theyre probly much higher than mine anyways lol where else did u apply too?

Honestly, yes, your SAT score is quite low but your gpa might make up for it (3.7 is pretty good). what were your individual scores on SAT, if you don’t mind?
Also, being a minority will be a big help. Vandy seems to like that
And any EC’s are good enough-compared to other top 20 schools, vandy seems to place less emphasis on lots of ECs. As long as you have a couple which you are devoted to that’s fine.

I applied ED1 which was probably a huge help.
SAT: 2200–740 R/670 M/790W
GPA: 3.92 uw/4.8w
okay EC’s-bunch of music stuff-and a couple leadership positions.

I honestly think that vandy looks at the entire package. I’ve seen applicants with low test scores who have still been accepted. Oh, and hopefully you have a great essay:)

oh yeah…my essay is about how i helped ppl who are mentally or physically challenged so hopefully thatll touch their hearts. yeah see…ur scores r in their range lol and mine are extremely low for them. but idk whatever lol nyu said they’ll look at the whole package and i got rejected. : / my sat scores are cr 580 m 610 writing 660. maybe ill try calling my school for the agreement form…o wait its too late anyways. oh well whatever. i emailed the counselor and he didnt reply.

when do we figure out if we got in ed 2

My son, a freshman at Vandy, found out Monday, February 9, 2009, that he had been accepted EDII. He loves Vandy, btw: the food (calamari, lamb, and steak lasagna), his friends, his roommate, and his classes.

the commons at vanderbilt is beautiful…

:D

Hey I am from Kentucky. I applied EDII also and man I feel like I can’t do anything at all while waiting on the decision!

Hey I’m from KY too! I did ED1 though. What part of Kentucky?

i’m so scared, guys.
if you check the vandy blog, it says they are about to conclude review & will probably mail ED 2 decisions this week. AH.

I am from Lexington. What about you?

Hey Thom, I don’t know if you will see this… but could you tell us when you guys are thinking of sending the mail? this anxiety is a killer!

Wow really close, I’m from Winchester.
