Chi, I don’t remember exactly, but around a 3.15, not above a 3.2 though. I had bangin’ EC’s though.

Logan, I got my acceptance letter at the end of April but many people heard back mid-April.

Oh my gosh! Everyone! I did not know there was a new thread made in January! I have been following this thread -

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/1011222-vanderbilt-fall-11-transfer-2.html#post11772387

Anyways, here are my stats from the other thread:

HS:
Graduated 41 out of 255 with an unweighted GPA of 3.55.
Highest ACT score was a 24 with a 7 on writing my senior year.
I did take the SAT, but I like to think that I never took it.
I ran Track all four years and Cross Country my 10, 11, and 12 year. Varsity every year.
I was inducted in BETA my sophomore year.
I was inducted into the National Technical Honor Society my senior year.
I was part of HOSA, FBLA, and DECA clubs.
In my junior year I was accepted into a clinical internship class that I participated in my last semester of my senior year. I worked at a local hospital four days a week for ~4 months.
The last semester of my senior year I was recognized as a Tennessee Scholar and was awarded with the Educate & Grow Sumner County Scholarship that paid full tuition to Volunteer State Community College for two years.
I took three dual enrollment classes through VSSC my senior year; Pre-Calculus I and English 1010 and 1020. I received a ‘B’ in those courses, unfortunately.
I did various volunteer jobs including working at the elementary school, fundraisers for track and cross country, christmas fundraiser for DECA, etc.

CC:
I have been a student at Volunteer State Community College since fall of 2009.
My current GPA is 3.3 and after this semester should be around 3.4.
I have a completed a rigor of courses including Calculus, General Chemistry I, General Chemistry II, Biology, along with prerequisites.
I will be graduating with an Associates in Math and Science degree next semester.
I was accepted into the National Society of Leadership and Success last year and was awarded the National Excellence in Leadership award.
I tutor English and Algebra at the moment.
The negatives about my college transcript: I received a ‘D’ in Gen Chem I my first semester, took it the next semester again and received a ‘B’. I took Organic Chemistry I a few weeks of this semester but dropped it so I could focus my time on General Biology I.

I would love some great advice on making my application stronger.
One thing I plan on doing is volunteering at the same hospital I worked at my senior year of high school over winter break.
I really would like some feedback on if I should retake the ACT or SAT.
I have an identical twin brother with similar statistics who should be posting soon.

Thanks!

Since I posted these stats in the other thread here are some new things to add:
I retook the ACT and received a 28.
I was accepted into the Science Practicum course at our college which is only for students who have been recommended for their success in science courses. It is a service learning class; I go to local middle schools and perform demonstrations to teach basic scientific concepts (oscillating clock, rainbow reaction, etc.)
My brother and I are getting a Running Club started.
I have applied for the summer CCI sponsored by the U.S. DOE. If accepted, I will do undergraduate research at either Oak Ridge National Laboratory or Argonne National Laboratory for ten weeks in the summer.

I am still freaking out since the deadline is two weeks away and I just came across this new thread.
Oh well, I will keep in contact.

Good luck everyone.

Heyyyyy guys! So I guess I’ll share my stats as well. I’m currently a freshman at Ole Miss.
My brother played football for Vandy so I’m a legacy.
Biggest procrastinator in the world so will be overnighting all my material March 1st. Go me!
Applied last year but didn’t get in.

High school:
4.05 GPA
27 ACT
Tennis champion
High jump state champion
Campaigned for a congressman
Paged for a governor
National honor society

College:
3.57 GPA
In a very competitive international studies program here
I’ve taken 6 hours of Russian
as well as 12 hours of Spanish this year
In a sorority
Hard classes

Not going to list all my ec’s but I think they’re pretty good.
What do y’all think?

I think you have a good chance. Good luck!

I sent in the last part of my application yesterday.

Now the waiting game begins…

Happy March 1st everyone!
Hopefully only a month and a half left!

do you think vandy will contact us if we are missing stuff, or should we do that on our own

you’d better just call or e-mail your rep, I don’t think they will contact you and you’re better safe than sorry

Stupid question but everything is due by midnight tonight right? Not last night? I’m getting paranoid because I haven’t submitted my Common App yet.

We have until 11:59 tonight to submit everything. Just need to get out of class so I can look over everything one last time.

Good luck everyone! I’d email your counselor to ensure they received the required materials.

My counselor emailed me that my transcripts still haven’t been received, which is odd because I sent them weeks ago. However, I am requesting them to be sent again. Will I now get my admission letter at a later date because of this? Do you think it will hinder my chances of getting in?

I think you’re probably fine. In last years thread, there were people that had issues with their schools sending materials, and someone had even had an issue with a later letter of rec and they were fine. If anything, it’s a good thing that they notified you now rather than later.

(From Military Academy)

Sooo I sent in my app for transfer about a week ago, It was difficult getting everything together because I’m currently in Afghanistan on a tiny outpost with the Army. I’m transferring from The United States Military Academy at West Point but took time off to deploy to Afghanistan with my former unit, I’m told this would not be looked upon unfavorably by an admissions councelor I asked.

I recieved about a 3.4 GPA from WP, while taking 20-22 credits per semester and participating in Division 1 Athletics while surviving that prison. haha. I also recieved the annual student Mathematics award for my class and got beaming letters of recomendation from 4 of my last semester professors.

I got about a 3.4 in HS with a 1400 SAT (Old Score) and had an nice list of ECs

I’m thinking my chances are really good but like everyone else I just wanna hear it from other people. haha

Ah, I just got back on CC not too long ago. It’s nice to see people replying to this thread. I hope all of us do get in, as I’ve read everyone’s stats and feel that everyone has a chance.

College:
Transferring from: Small, Regionally Ranked LAC
College GPA: 4.0 with 81 credits
Received Associates in the Arts in high school with highest honors/4.0 GPA (63 credits)
Honors Program: Yes
SAT: ~1900 (not retaking)
ACT: n/A
ECs: Extensive (not in the mood to make an extensive list right now)
Volunteering: Extensive

High School:
High School GPA: ~3.6-3.7 GPA
ECS: Extensive
Volunteering: Extensive

The only issue that I’m having is that I feel that a disciplinary issue in high school may hinder my acceptance, although I thoroughly explained it in my CommonApp disciplinary essay. I understand that you’re supposed to accept responsibility for what happened, but I seriously had nothing to do with what happened. I hope that that the AdCom doesn’t interpret that as being hostile in some way.

For all those who applied, is Vandy your first choice?

It’s a tie for me. I’m applying to Vandy and NU, both great schools. Essentially, the FA package will play a large role in my decision if I was to get accepted into both schools. However, I’m just hoping for one acceptance right now.

^^Northwestern doesn’t even give out grants and scholarships to transfer students in their first year I believe, not sure if you knew that or not…

Vandy is definitely my first choice. Eagerly waiting to find out. Too bad it’s more than a month away!

@ChicagoBears

I got into NU last year (sophomore transfer) and got a fairly good package, not enough to actually go, but they do give out large grants in case you were wondering.
