Vanderbilt University Fall 2011 Transfer Thread

@dgibbon, will do!

@allisone92 hah, well at least you didn’t get denied from both! Just makes me ****ed at my parents for putting me in the middle of the divorce and giving me the genes for lupus.

I was bored, so I decided to go to campus today with my parents. They’re already having freshmen orientations, I think, because there were a lot of kids with nametags on with their parents in the bookstore. Can’t wait for our orientation!! All we have to do is pass our finals/classes, then we’re on our way to greener pastures!

I’ve never been to the campus can’t wait to visit!!! Is it gorgeous???

Yes! It’s the best campus I’ve ever been on. So many trees, open lawns to relax on, the architecture is unique, everything is well-maintained so not a lot of trash anywhere (the most trash you’ll find is on frat row on the weekends), hundreds of squirrels like they’re everywhere, recreational fields for everyone to use, the sidewalks/pathways are cool (nothing like UT’s cracked and old ones). My favorite mexican restaurant, Satco, is right across the street! Fabulous shopping. Close to Green Hills/Green Hills Mall. Vanderbilt is literally central to everything/anything you could possibly need if you are coming from another state. And if you ever need help finding somewhere or exploring Nashville, come to me! I’ve lived here all of my almost 19 years.

Hi Everyone,

I’m applying as a transfer student to the class of 2014. I applied last year, but I was not accepted :confused: I’m applying to the engineering school. I really want to go to Vanderbilt :)

My HS GPA was a 3.87- top 10% of a private school
some leadership positions
debate, drama club, NHS, environmental club
ran the tutoring program at school
paid tutor
did a good deal of community service
SAT score 1810 :confused: not too hot
ACT score 26 :confused: not too hot either
First Semester GPA in college 3.8, dean’s list, invited into two national honor societies
joined a few engineering clubs in college and made freshman council
What do you think?
Good luck to everyone who applied!

Double depositing for transfers is acceptable when you have an early deadline that requires you to deposit before you hear back from other schools you applied to.

We have to live on-campus right?

When do they send out financial aid packages?

@jhlee I got my financial aid package yesterday, so within a few days I think!

Heyyy i got my letter about 5 days ago, so mid april and im in for the fall 2011 as a neuroscience major :] SO EXCITED!

Does anyone know when the next batch will go out ? :frowning: i was sad I havent gotten anything yet! ahh!

Lax, I feel your pain. I am waiting as well. I was told in my last phone call on Friday that a batch would go out, at the latest, this Friday. Keep in mind that a batch was also mailed out this past Friday, so people will be getting letters throughout this week and next.

Congrats to everyone who got in! I’m starting to think that they do transfer applications by region. If you are assigned a counselor by region and that counselor has a large role in the review of your application, then I think it makes sense. This doesn’t mean that if you’re the only one to apply from somewhere that you’ll get in, because they do want the applicant to have certain standards. However, I think that’s why certain people have been accepted/rejected before other applicants that are just now getting reviewed and admission decisions.

what regions have they done so far?

@jhlee417

You may be right about that, but remember that not everyone who applied to Vanderbilt is here on CC, or has even posted a reply here. I believe that the decisions are being reviewed based on how early the application was complete. In the cases that we’ve seen thus far, the applications were complete ranging from January-March.

When was your application complete?

@Laxlove

Also, when was your application complete?

Just to let everyone know, a lot of information can be learned from the Vandy Blogger webpage. [The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University](The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University)

For instance, there is a post that explains how people are admitted.
The clear acceptances, the clear denials, and the muddy middle.
Most people fall in the muddy middle.

I think we can start to realize this by the posts on here.

@Godric
I agree with that as well. I just think the region has a lot to do with it as well. I had submitted all my stuff before march, but had to resubmit my transcripts, so technically my app was complete in mid march.

mine was completed right before March 1st or shortly after, I had to fed ex my college transcripts so the date they reached Vandy were before March 1st but they werent processed until after that.
