Vanderbilt University Fall 2011 Transfer Thread

Yeah Vandy’s the only school I applied to so it’s my number 1 haha

I guess I’ll have to wait and see. Is NU need-aware? If so, that really hurts my chances.

Let me just chime in here.

“Northwestern has a need-blind admissions policy for U.S. citizens and permanent residents; this means that financial aid is not a factor in determining admission. Applicants are encouraged to apply for financial aid; Northwestern’s generous need-based aid program can assist in defraying the costs of your college education.”

“Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need, but is dependent upon availability of funds. Northwestern grant assistance is generally not available to transfer or returning adult students during their first year at the University.”

^Thanks Godric. The thing with NU is I live about 15 minutes away from the campus and would commute via an automobile. Obviously I’d save about 12-15k depending on the price of the dorm but there is still a great possibility that Vandy offers a better FA package, including the cost of the dorm. However, I’m just hoping for admission to VU or NU at this point. One step at a time :)

“Is NU need-aware? If so, that really hurts my chances.”

There’s actually no way to know if need-aware hurt an individual’s chances; was a denial due a school’s running out of money or running out of seats?

Vandy’s my top choice. It would be best for me if I just stayed at my current school if I didn’t get in and apply to a good grad school.

Vandy’s the only school I applied to transfer to, so it’s my top choice

is it to late to change majors?

and by majors i mean schools in vandy

I believe your best bet would just be to call and ask admissions

finally got an email that my application was complete (there was a problem with transcripts)

^Was it the email titled “Vanderbilt Application Acknowledgment”?

I apologize for the delay in response – our records indicate that your application is now complete.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 800.288.0432 or admissions@vanderbilt.edu.

I’m sure if they haven’t contacted you saying you are missing things then you are fine.

is everyone sending a midterm report?

i won’t get mine until atleast a week so probably too late by the time i send it out.

I just completed my winter quarter and will be sending an updated transcript which reflects my fall and winter quarter grades. My spring quarter begins on the 28th of March so I would not be able to get a mid term report until early May. Do you guys think I’ll need a midterm report?

NYU I got that email this morning :)

solid! good luck

Vandy is definitely my first choice! And about the emails… is everyone supposed to get one? I called my admissions guy and he said my app was complete, but haven’t gotten that email yet!

^
Same here…e-mailed my counselor who told me my file was complete, but I never got an e-mail confirming my file was complete
