Vanderbilt University Fall 2011 Transfer Thread

^I don’t believe so. I emailed Vandy over a month ago regarding my application status and I believe the email was in response to my inquiry.

The email read

Dear Anonymous,

Thank you for contacting the Vanderbilt Office of Undergraduate Admissions.

Our records indicate that your application is complete. Beginning Mid-April, transfer admissions decisions will be mailed weekly.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact our office at 800.288.0432 or admissions@vanderbilt.edu.

Sincerely,

Kayla Thielk, ‘11
Undergraduate Admissions Intern

Like everyone else, I also applied for transfer for Fall 2011. My stats are:

ACT: 29
HS GPAs: Weighted - 4.28, Unweighted - 4.04, Core - 3.8
I participated on a Varsity National Dance Team at my high school.
I was involved in a few clubs.
Community service was a requirement for each person to pass into the next grade.
I was a part of the National Honors Society, French Honors Society, and Cum Laude Society.

College GPA: 3.91 after my first semester
I take Honors-level classes, but I am not in the actual Honors program.
I am in a sorority, therefore I participate in many community service events and support for the school.
I am in the National Collegiate Honors Society, along with letters from many other Honors societies to join.

Finally, my father is an alumni who also works at Vanderbilt.
I applied in high school, but many factors played into my denial. They accepted two girls and two boys from my high school which is two streets away from the university. My involvement level in my high school was lower than the four who were accepted. And, my father wasn’t an alumni yet.

I also had to email my counselor to confirm my application was complete, and never received the automated message confirming it until after the deadline.

^
Is Vandy your first choice?

Did anyone read Vandy’s blog about this year’s freshmen class? Not that it should affect transfer admissions but it’s still very impressive.

[Vanderbilt Class of 2015 Admission Decisions Mailed Today | The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University](Vanderbilt Class of 2015 Admission Decisions Mailed Today | The Vandy Admissions Blog | Vanderbilt University)

Yeah, I saw that… Pretty impressive! Makes me nervous because I am sure that the number of transfer applications will increase too. Oh well, we will find out soon enough (getting pretty close to decision time!)

^Yup. Last year they had 876 applicants, and the year before about 100 less so I’m guessing there will be around 1000 applicants this year, assuming the trend holds. I read that GPA is the most important factor so make sure to keep your GPAs high! :)

does anyone know when we should be notified of our decisions? I read last year that it started mid April but on Vandy’s website it says we may not know until the summer…does that only pertain to applicants who submitted after the priority deadline?

Ahhhh my application is still not complete. I sent my SAT scores early February and they have yet to be received. Collegeboard says to wait until NEXT Tuesday since it can take 4-6 weeks, not including Spring Break. >.<

I’m seriously considering just rushing them, but it’s $30. What to do, what to do. :(

Anyone accepted to Vandy without SAT/ACT score prior to this year? I was exempted from SAT/ACT requirement because I am an international student.

^me (10char)

anywhere08-

you were admitted to Vanderbilt without SAT? Can you share your stats?

As the days pass, my confidence dwindles. Anyone else feeling this way? :/

Yeah, this guy.

I phailed my essay, I think.

^I feel the same way. I’m glad I’m not the only one; this wait is killing me! At this point, I’d be devastated to get a rejection letter. I’ve expended so much effort and emotion into this process, a rejection would rip my heart out.

Hang in there, kid. We’re all in this together. 15 more days until the first wave is mailed out.

I appreciate the reassurance! I hope both of us get in!

To both of you, I feel the same way. This way has been unbearable. Some days I am really excited about my chances, and others I certainly am not. I really hope they mail the decisions out in mid-April instead of of much later. I can’t take any more waiting!

My first post on CC. I’m nervous! I applied to Vandy as a sophomore transfer student from Occidental College. Came all the way to LA from Miami. I applied to five schools, but Vandy is by far my first choice.

I graduated from Ransom Everglades last year. I recently learned that 10 Ransom seniors were accepted at Vandy through early decision this year. The graduating class is only 150 students. Don’t know if that helps or hurts me. Vandy certainly likes my high school, but my paranoia is taking over. What do you think?

^Occidental is a fine institution and I’m sure Vandy will acknowledge that. Not to mention, there was once a man who transferred from Occidental to Columbia University after his freshman year. He is now the president of the United States :P
