Vanderbilt University Fall 2021 Transfer Thread

Were you already accepted?

I understand what you mean. Our decisions have not been uploaded to our portals, though. Our checklists are still completely there. It is possible I got denied, obviously, but it seems unlikely that everyone in the second pool got denied.

My D applied for freshman admission. She got access denied on the admitted students event, and she got rejected.

Oh, that makes sense. Transfer admission works in waves, though. The decisions for the first wave came out almost two weeks ago, and they had an event for them. We should be hearing back for the second wave this week.

Ah, I see.

Guess it could be the same for transfers but I wouldnā€™t make that assumption since the acceptances are given in waves into the summer. Not really apples to apples.

You have a point.

Wow congratulations those are amazing results! Are you leaning towards any one in particular? Iā€™m lurking for my D. Sheā€™s been accepted to URochester so far. Most of her schools havenā€™t released decisions yet. Or she wasnā€™t in the first waveā€¦.seriously more stressful than freshman decisions lol.

Not sure yet!! I am waiting on vanderbilt, rice, swarthmore, colby, and hamilton. hamilton is set for this coming friday (maybe rice too based on previous years)? Swarthmore is usually the 15th, and colby just does not say anything. Vanderbilt is my top choice, so I am honestly just waiting it out. If i donā€™t get in, I am hoping for rice or swarthmore. I got great aid/scholarships from colgate and unc, though. Super tough decisions and thanks for the congrats!!

And amenā€¦ the waiting game is so tough. I am going to be super upset if I am not in the second wave, to be honest. I submitted before the priority deadline and had my materials in before it. I love the school, but I cannot turn down all the offers in HOPES that I get in.

Yes the dribble of results really wrecks havoc on accepting spots! Funny how they can get through all the ED apps in 6 weeks but the transfer apps take months. Vanderbilt is one of Dā€™s top choices as well. Rice would be amazing too! Hope you get the chance to have to make that choice!

She also submitted before the deadline and Iā€™m really hoping being in the second wave isnā€™t a bad sign but they say they accept kids into the summer so who knows lol!

Good luck!

yeah, I mean it is what it is, right? The decisions are going to be made whenever, and we will hear back eventually. I put a LOT of time into my Vandy app and feel hopeful about it, so I am willing to admit that it will hurt if I get rejected. I do not know if you are religious, but I am just trusting God on this one!!

I hope you get in! You sound like youā€™d be an excellent addition to Vandyā€™s community!

Any insight on wave 1 waitlist outlook on admission? Not really sure how Vandy prioritizes wave 1 waitlist vs all wave 2 applicants. Being in the waitlist, does it mean chances are slim? Will waitlist wave 1 get denied in wave 2 or join a larger group of waitlist applicants and find out by summer?

Anyone know when the second wave of decisions will come out?

I think you join a bigger waitlist, and if the waves do not fill the class, they go to the waitlist
