Vanderbilt University Fall 2021 Transfer Thread

Stats?

3.7 from top 50 school. International student, good essays, good recs. Really good extracurriculars in student government and collegiate Model UN.

man when did u submit ur app??
I submitted just before the ddl and I haven’t got mine either

bruh r u a sophomore or a junior transfer??
It’s kinda surprising how competitive transfers r these days
I’m also a transfer with a 4.0 from a private t30 school
just panicked after reading ur post man

I read the waitlist letter, and it seems that they are not that eager for you to accept a place on the waitlist, unlike other schools like NW, Brown, JHU, or UChicago, whose letters had a stronger language indicating an interest for the students to accept a place on waitlist.

but this is pure conjecture. No one should take my advice when deciding whether to accept the waitlist. I have declined mine for Vanderbilt.

Yeah idk what’s going on. I’m hoping I can get my decision this coming week. I’m still waiting. I’ll give some stats for the future kids waiting.

Sophomore transfer
3.9 UW high school GPA (11 APs, 6 DE, 5 honors)
4.0 college gpa (fall and spring)
33 ACT but did not submit (probably should have)
President of 3 clubs in high school
State awards, national political stuff, some other stuff
I did some small stuff in college this far but whatevs
All 4s and 5s on APs

Impressive stats! What type of college are you currently attending?

I think those of you waiting for an initial decision seem likely to be accepted.

I attend a top 15 undergrad business school. I predict the next wave will be a mix of accept, waitlist, and reject

Do you think most other universities have released their waves by now (excluding decisions to waitlisted applicants)?

I have heard back from every school I applied to (11 schools) except for Vanderbilt and Swarthmore. Swarthmore sent us an email earlier in May, though, saying that it would be late May or early June when they release. I would honestly be surprised if Vanderbilt does not release the next wave by this week. They still have the waitlist to go into, and if they wait two weeks and then wait another two for all the deposit decisions, they would be starting to use the waitlist in practically July.

Do you think it means anything when the email said to confirm if you still want to be on the waitlist by the 22nd?

I have no idea tbh. The timeline seems odd overall. They def won’t be pulling from it this month, though. Some of us still haven’t heard the first decision. I am not sure what to expect honestly. It seems odd that they waitlisted and rejected everyone in the last wave, but they held on to some of us. I would assume this coming wave is the last one to fill the remaining seats, and they will start to use the waitlist after that. I do not think everyone in this coming wave will be accepted.

Does Vanderbilt send out email notifications when decision is out or do I have to check this thread every week now?

They send an email like right when they post it. It’s not in advance

What do they say on their letters?

Their language in general is very plain. It’s just like take or it don’t
