We are thinking of visiting Vanderbilt on a Saturday Game Day...For current students, do you think this will give us a good "picture" of the school or should we try to re-schedule?

it might be fun, but football is only a small part of the equation at vandy

i agree with brian said, a few thoughts on it though. if you or your son/daughter is a sports fan, then i think it is optimal to get a snapshot of what vanderbilt will be like as a student. having said that, i would also say that if possible, try to do a friday/saturday visit so that you see what vandy is like on a "normal" weekday and then a football gameday. So you might want to schedule a tour/info session on the Friday, maybe sit in on a class, do Dore for a Day, etc. on Friday, maybe go downtown or do something else that gives you a perspective on Nashville Friday night, and then the football experience on Saturday if that's something that you enjoy.

Hope this helps.

Thank you both....If we have the chance to do both, as VandyManiac mentioned, it sounds great....If not, do you think that her perception of the school will be realistic if we have to go on a Saturday that has a game? Obviously, the school will be pumped but is that a realistic atmosphere (or is Vanderbilt always pumped? LOL)

lol i would say that the general student body personality is very optimistic and outgoing... but the atmosphere is different on a gameday if thats not really your thing because everything is essentially affected on a football saturday due to the game. the rest of campus is kind of quiet during the game. however, if you come the weekend of a night game, you'll be fine. we're not too crazy around here about tailgating more than say 3-4 hours before the game (some SEC schools tailgate starting the night before a game lol)... so in that respect, if its a night game, take advantage of a saturday afternoon tour and a night game.

hope ya'll have a great visit to vandy.
