Vanderbilt vs BC

I'm stuck between Boston College and Vanderbilt, not sure what to do, would love input!

also im wondering which is the better school

Both schools are close to a fun city, have D-1 sports, and similiar size. However, Vanderbilt is academically stronger in terms of student quality and reputation.

Love, love, love both schools. I agree that Vanderbilt is academically stronger (and certainly higher ranked). Vanderbilt has a strong fraternity/sorority presence, and BC has none. For some, that would be a deciding factor. BC also is, as I’m sure you know, a Catholic school, which may be a plus or a minus to you, depending on your predilections. Boston is such a fun city but can be brutally cold, whereas Nashville is much more moderate and also very fun. Vanderbilt has four years of on-campus living, which is pretty nice and makes things easy. BC guarantees only one or two years of dorm. First year dorm at BC may require a bus ride, depending on which dorm you get, whereas all Vanderbilt dorms are walking distance from all parts of campus and first-year dorms are particularly nice. (Vandy also is buidling a brand new dorm for upper level students, and it should also be very nice.) But, if you got better financial aid at one of these schools, I would counsel you to choose that one. Both of these schools are very pricey.

My sister goes to Boston and I will be attending Vanderbilt next year. I believe that Vandy has stronger academics, but BC is still an exceptional school. Both are gorgeous but different. BC is all stone where as Vandy is all red bricks. Since BC is catholic there are no greek houses, but that doesn’t mean that the party scene is lacking. Vandy’s party scene is dominated by greek life. The southern feel is present at Vandy and the East Coast feel at BC. Really, truly I think both are good schools. I think vandy may hold a better name but you just can’t go wrong. It comes down to personal feel.
