Like most people, I like pretty good social atmospheres. Comparisons in things like social life, academics, and overall atmosphere would be much appreciated.

what type of engineering?

Aeronautics at 'SC, Chemical and Vandy.

Simply put, socially they are both amazing. Both have warm weather, D-1 sports, ridiculously hot girls, wild parties, beautiful campuses, and top-notch facilities and academics.

They are very similar. Having lived 20 minutes away from USC for a good portion of my life, I can attest to USC's amazing school spirit and ridiculously fun social life, but the place is not exactly "intellectual". Of course there are intellectual types, but the overall stereotype of rich, white, blonde girls in sororities holds rather true. At least, it feels that way, and perception is reality. (That may be a bonus for you--I don't know.) Of course, their sports are out of this world, there is nothing like attending a USC football game. However, USC's location is...less than desireable. (Ghetto!) About the only area it looses to UCLA in, in my opinion.

Having visited Vandy, I can somewhat attest to my experience there. I personally prefer Vandy's campus to USC's, but that's all personal preference. Go to www.webshots.com and search by the school names if you want to see pictures. Vandy's niche of Nashville is also much nicer than USC's home in South Central, and the city of Nashville is smaller, more managable, cuter, and has a more distinct and charming personality than LA, in my opinion. Sports at Vandy aren't has big an event as at USC; Vandy's teams are perennial losers in many sports...but that definitely doesn't mean they don't have school spirit or aren't proud to be at Vanderbilt.

Hope that helped.

i agree with your post semi, but Vanderbilt athletics are actually really good. Football is obviously the exception. But we are very competitive in basketball and baseball.
