Vanderbilt vs. Wake Forest

Can anyone compare these two schools for me? I was accepted at Wake Forest and I'm staying on the waitlist at Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt has been my number one choice up until this point; however, Wake Forest has recently become very appealing to me. If I happen to get off the waitlist I would like to know what I'm giving up (the opportunity cost if you will) by going to one school over the other.

Which one will give me a better pre-med foundation and give me the best opportunity to get into medical school?

Pre-med
Big sports fan
Social scene?
Probably going to pledge
Nashville or Winston-Salem

Other than Harvard - Yale, there may not be two more similar prominent universities in the country than Vandy and Wake. If you don’t get off the waitlist at Vandy, you’ll be giving up the new freshman residential village at Vandy and the nightlife of Nashville. You’ll get a smaller, more intimate environment and a better sports scene. Pre-med should be equal and the Greek scene should be equal. If you like one, you’ll like the other about as much.

Agreed. Two very, very, very similar schools. My suggestion? Get the Wake gear and start wearing it. That will help you psychologically and its a great place to go to college.

yea im definetly not in a bad situation with my choice… anyone have anything to add?

bump thanks

It sounds like you’ll be very happy at Wake. Don’t get your hopes up about the Vandy waitlist - chances aren’t exactly high. I’d take endlessrecession’s advice and order a Wake sweatshirt and start loving it. If you do get into Vandy, you’ve still got two great options (though I would pick Vandy over the two, granted they end up being the same in terms of cost).

Prepare to go to Wake, but I would go to Vandy if you get off the list, just don’t count on it. Not to be negative, it just seems like these WL’s are a farce. There are WAYYYY to many people on them
