Vanderbilt vs. Washington University in St. Louis for Computer Science Student

Hello,

I am a senior nearing the end of my last year of college, and I have been hit with a dilemma. I have been accepted into these two colleges for computer science, where I also plan to double-major with business, with similar financial packages for both. I am unsure of where I should go, and I wanted to have some people help me make this decision. On Vanderbilt’s side, I’d be at a place where I contacts, previous alumni from my high school, overall familiarity, the benefit of its prestige, better student life and happiness, more lively college atmosphere and sports atmosphere, a better city and location in Nashville, and other things. On Washington’s side, I’d have a (based solely on rankings) a better computer science school, better food, better dorms, better campus, less prestige, and many other benefits. I aspire to work in Silicon Valley, and I have heard that WUSTL’s reputation is lacking compared to Vanderbilt in addition to student happiness. Is this really true? What would you guys recommend?

First, is cost a consideration ? If so, how much will each school cost per year ?

Sounds like your mind is made up. Go to Vanderbilt if that is what you believe is best for you. Have a blast. Let Wash U know now so that they can let someone who would like to go there go. Good luck,

Cost is not a factor at all. I would have to pay the same amount for each university.
