Hi everyone! i figured i should start a discussion about the waitlist for this year! I accepted my spot on it, and as of right now i’m really hoping to get off it. Welcome to my fellow waitlisters, let’s go through this process together, comment if you accepted your spot!
my son accepted wait list offer as well. Thanks for starting the thread. Any prior statistics on wait-listed candidates?
We’re here too! Hard to take the advice I’ve read from others to move on but also to wait. Vandy was always a first choice.
Daughter accepted her waitlist spot right away. Here’s to hoping! Thank you for starting up this thread.
Not sure where to go from here, should I express my continued interest to admissions?
My daughter too! Vandy is her definite first choice among her acceptances and her two waitlists. Hoping there is a lot of waitlist movement this year!
I am planning on writing a letter of continued interest
I accepted my waitlist offer. I just emailed my admissions counselor my LOCI, should I expect a response from him or will he just add it to my file?
Im waiting for a response back from my admissions counselor, I asked her what I can do to increase my chances of getting off the waitlist… I will be sending her my LOCI soon though. It has been 3 days since I emailed her with my questions and no response.
I wrote a LOCI to my admissions officer last Thursday and received an automated email saying that she currently away from her office and haven’t received a response yet.
@DrSenioritis have you heard back from your AO yet? Daughter sent a letter on Friday (3/27) and has not heard back. Wondering if the AO’s got a bit of time off after the craziness leading up to releasing decisions.
@OH2020MOM I heard back from her regarding a general question about the waitlist, and in that email she responded to i mentioned i would send a letter to her soon. She responded two days ago with this very detailed response about the waitlist and then right after that i thanked her and sent her the letter. Still haven’t heard back from her after sending the letter, though.
How do I get the email for my AO?
They accepted 800 more students this year in RD than last year. the acceptance rate rose from 6.3% to 9%. There goes my hopes of getting off the waitlist.
Thank you for that data. It’s helpful. I’ve been looking for that information. Where did you find those stats?
@IowaProud https://admissions.vanderbilt.edu/vandybloggers/2020/03/class-of-2024-regular-decision-summary-statistics/
Can you share her detailed response about the waitlist? Thanks!
@bartley01 sure, Thank you for your email and continued interest in Vanderbilt. I’m more than happy to provide some insight into our waitlist process and what you can do to make yourself stand out with the process.
At this point we are waiting to hear from the students who were admitted, and they have until May 1st to reply. Once we have heard from all of them we will see where the holes are in the first year class and make offers. The first round of offers will be during the beginning of May and we hope to have it all wrapped up by mid-July. Our wait list is not ranked, because we don’t know who will say yes of the admitted students, and if we need more engineers or teachers for example, we’ll focus on that during the wait list process.
Be sure to check your email regularly, as we will send updates and continue to gauge your interest in remaining on the wait list that way as well. If you feel like you need to update me with any accomplishments or achievements since you submitted your application you are welcome to do so, the best way is to just email me with those updates.
I also just replied to her, asking that since 800 more students were accepted RD this year, if they are expecting little movement on the waitlist this year. I will let you know what she replies to that. I feel bad emailing her so much, but at least its showing her that I really want to go.
@DrSenioritis thank you for sharing this information. Again, it’s very helpful. Best of luck to you, all all that have been waitlisted.
