when they say possibly after May 1, do they mean it could be earlier or that May 1 is the earliest?
They said they would be going to the waitlist after May 1st.
based on last year’s wave, the first one was may 3rd
My son declined Vanderbilt CS due to high cost, it was around 61K out of pocket.
which college will he attend?
thanks
I thought that they will meet 100% of demonstrated need? 61K out of pocket does not sound like that, but maybe I am missing something…?
UT Dallas with full scholarship as a national merit scholar.
Total cost of attendance was around 89K, my son got 28K financial aid. Net family contribution is around 61K. My FAFSA EFC is 62k so this might be the reason.
Do you know Vandy ranked #14 but UT dallas ranked #136? sounds like your home income is enough to cover that $61K. I think it will be a easy choice to go Vandy for his future.
Can anyone let me know if you get off the waitlist?
When do you guys think the first wave will be? Monday/Tuesday?
I would have sent him if it was in top 10 in CS and next year he may not get any need based aid because my salary increased substantially in last 2 years. People suggested to go to undergrad for free and then go to top college. Undergrad doesn’t matter much if you plan to master. I put this question in Reddit and almost everyone suggested this.
Was there just one wave last year?
indeed, vandy’s cs is not very good at all. however, UT dallas is not good. If you live in Texas, You can choose A&M, Austin, rice…
the second wave is the leftover from the waitlist students (confirmed by their LOCI) ; the first wave is the leftover from the regular decision (No confirmation at all).
Where did you receive this information from?
That’s correct. UT Dallas is ranked 71 in CS. He didn’t apply to A&M because he was so confident in getting into Austin. He will try to transfer next year to top 10 CS schools. If he gets one of them then I will send him there.
did anyone receive a reply for their LOCI (if you sent it via email)?
I did.
What do you mean by this? Are you saying the WL is ranked in multiple tiers? Vanderbilt is very clear that their waiting list is not ranked whatsoever.
