I know my extra curricular aren’t stellar but it is because I moved from Europe back to America halfway through high school so it was hard to maintain consistency.
ACT: 29 (ik, yikes)
SAT: TBA
I know I likely won’t get in but I want to know if there is even a chance. It’s my dream school. I want to major in biology and then go onto medical school. Thanks.
try to get your ACT up. Vandy’s range is 32-35, and getting in with a score below that is rare. if it’s your dream school, definitely apply ED1 - it increases your chances tremendously. other than that, make sure your essays are good; Vandy loves their essays.
Don’t throw away your early decision odds at a school where you are not in the top quartile of admit stats. Secondly, the costs of your long term education (including professional or grad school years) should be a primary consideration. If you are going to be full pay at a private college, that is different than if you are going to qualify for financial aid. Are you bilingual? if so, ponder how to talk about this talent and how it can serve you. Lastly, we all know people with 29 ACTs who learn just as effectively as those with 33s so don’t let your scores stop you. You don’t have to go to Vanderbilt to be highly successful. Vandy is just one of the schools in the USA with an embarrassment of riches in high numbers of applicants with top test scores. Open your mind to the fabulous outcomes at other colleges. Good luck with your second sittings on your exams.
