Anyone else find Vanderbilt admissions counselors so nice and helpful?

I have Harper Haynes as my regional couselor. During the 4 or 5 times I've e-mailed her, she's e-mailed me back the same or next day. I think that's so cool! And when she e-mails me back, it's not a completely generic, boring response. It's nice to see evidence that admissions counselors aren't robots and can actually have emotion in their writing!

And Thom's and Brad's musings on the Vanderbilt admissions blog are fun to read yet still very educational. They keep us updated, post pictures and even respond to commenters!

I vote they get the award for "Most Awesome Admissions Committee."

I may be slightly bias, but I'm not sucking up. How is this sucking up? *They don't even know who I am on this board. *

Being nice and appreciative is different than sucking up.

Out of the other schools I've e-mailed and whatnot, they take a few days to respond and have generic answers. And they haven't taken the time to make their own admissions blog.

But hey, I have my own troll. That's kinda flattering. Thanks! =]

I severely doubt my admissions counselor will read this. Searching this forum takes too much effort. Again, I'm not sucking up because I'm not calling them up or e-mail this to them.

but incase...

*HEY ADMISSIONS COUNSELORS WHO PROBABLY AREN'T GOING TO READ THIS: I'm sure whoever you are can realize that I'm not trying to suck up. *

I don't bullsh.it people. And I don't go out searching for a conflict. Honestly, it's amusing that you created an account just to try to put me down.

But anyway, arguing on the internet is so lame. You can write whatever you want after this and I'm just going to ignore it.

I agree with hilsa, the admission ppl are awesome. Mine always emailed me back and was very helpful.
And hilsatroll you need to chill, if hilsa wants to give props to the admission counselors let her do so, if you don't like it don't read it. Its not sucking up, its just being humble and appreciative to the ppl that help.

p.s. I've gotten accepted already so there's no need for me to suck up, so I give them the award for "Most Awesome Admissions Committee" too lol

yeah, you are definitely sucking up. The admissions people do read these boards, their user name is like vandyadmissions which I'm sure you're already aware of. Not that I care because I'm not even applying to vanderbilt, but suck ups are always annoying and I'm glad someone called you out on it.

oh my god what the **** you guys.
why are people on CC such snobby dicks sometimes?
oh yes I am a Vandy admission counselor.
I check CC obsessively and I totally know this Hilary out of the 5000 Hilaries that are applying from Florida state and the 50 Hilaries from Englewood. and Of course, I know all that because I stalk her on CC and read all of her posts, and of course noticed the essay she has posted! and Now i am going to grant her an admission just because she had posted such a nice thread about my committee.

People, get a grip.

I see you guys are applying to prestigious schools,
but maybe you guys need to stop being so ****ing rude and ignorant.

I'm actually happy that I started this. It's always funny how people take one instance of someone and then stereotype them from then onwards. It's like the anti-halo effect!

I completely agree; Miss Haynes is my counselor as well, I had the chance of meeting her at an independent college fair and she was very interested in clearing up any doubts for me. I think Vandy does really innovative things, such as their blog, it kind of shows you that though scary most of the time, admissions counselors are actually people :)
