I always thought they don't really like the waitist, but I guess they do? I mean they even said in their admissions blog that they prefer to give students either a "thumbs up" (admit) or "thumbs down" (deny).

Shows that while they accepted 4,238, they also waitlisted a buttload, 1510.

Number of qualified applicants offered a placed on waiting list: 1510
Number accepting a place on the waiting list: 719
Number of wait-listed students admitted: 3

That simply means they like putting kids on the waitlist, which is very different from accepting kids off of the waitlist. 3/1510 = .2%... so if you're waitlisted I would suggest having an alternative plan.

Last year was an abnormally small percentage, however, since more kids accepted their admissions offer than they were expecting. I think in years past they've accepted up to 50-75 kids off the waitlist, but I doubt that would be the case for fall 2008 or 2009.
