Hello! Do I have any chance at Vandy ED? It's really my top choice and I am really hopeful that the holistic review will help me out. I realize it's a reach for me, but is it worth doing ED? I really wanna go here...

I speak 3 languages fluently

I think you are right in the the holistic review will help you out. Speaking three languages is impressive and you are obviously dedicated academically to computer science. Your SAT isnt there yet, as im sure you know. Try your luck with the ACT. You have several extracurriculars that you seem dedicated to. I would say vandy is a low reach.

My weighted GPA is actually a 3.91… Would you guys recommend taking another Subject Test, or will Math II help me out enough (I would take physics)

I would say still in the reach-ish territory unless you told us more. Vanderbilt is still a very hard to get into school and a lot of people applying have extracurriculars like yours, or ‘better’ (or ‘worse’). Furthermore none of them have any relation to CS really :/

@Smith, I just chanced you back, and no, Vandy doesn’t require any subject tests. That being said, do you think that I should still take physics in addition? @math, I guess I should just hope for the best then… :(

So, your SAT scores are a little below the average for Vandy but not by too much, so don’t worry too much. Maybe you will want to take the SAT again in Nov, though, just in case you get deferred. I would recommend taking the test in octover for the SAT1, but I guess it’s too late for that.

GPA is also probably a little below average if all of these numbers are uw as you say they are. Not much to be done here, though I will say that I think you have had some pretty good schedules throughout HS. ECs are pretty good imo. Volunteering is decent.

You’re definitely a good candidate for ED considering your test scores and gpa. I don’t know how much of a boost ED gives at Vandy, but I’d say it’s a low reach.

Major reach. My son’s elite boarding school valedictorian (with better stats) was deferred ED and her brother was rejected at Vandy ED. Apply to some safeties too! Good luck.

As with any schools of this caliber, it’s hard to sat whether or not you will get in. The best I can offer you is that your stats are in (a little above) the 25th percentile for Vandy. So you do have a chance. Whether or not you get in, however, is really only up to those reviewing your app. I would take another subject test, though. Anything you can do to make yourself look better than other students (sounds harsh, but thats the reality of it) is a plus.
