Vandy ED

I’d predict it as a low reach if you’re applying ED. Your EC’s are pretty good and transcript’s not bad either. Your SAT’s not exceptional but okay. Just make sure you get 750+ in the second Subject test too.

Vanderbilt is going to be a reach for everyone, but I think that you have as good of a chance as anyone. Speaking three languages will help and you have good leadership. You are similar to most applicants who apply there, so just try to increase your GPA with AP classes and you will likely get in. Its 50/50

def apply for ed because you have a decent chance. The gpa is fine but the sat isn’t as great as it could/should be. Def take another sat subject test and make sure your essays are exceptional. I would say it is a high match!

Definitely go Early Decision just in case (college admissions are literally impossible and with top schools such as Vandy, Duke, and Notre Dame - the schools just below Ivies - you can never be sure you’re gonna get in). I have a friend with a 4.0 GPA UW, 12 APs, great testing scores (like above 750 in every section for both SAT I and II) and still got rejected. I think it was because he lacked in Extracurriculars but again you just never know.

If say that you’re looking pretty good with the Extracurriculars, but brining the GPA up a little never hurts!

I think you have a good GPA and amazing Leadership Positions! You also took Hard Courses throughout HS thus far, which is great! Overall, I think you have a good shout, especially with ED! Btw, are you Muslim by any chance?

Vanderbilt ED: Low match

good luck! chance back?

@jisaacs, did you mean low reach, not low match? I’m about to chance you back too.

sorry i meant match for vanderbilt ed, not low match. with your stats and early decision, i think your probably in. good luck and plz chance back if you didnt

I think you have a decent chance for sure- three languages is impressive! I don’t know that much about Vandy, but ED surely helps your chances. I would retake the SAT (and take the ACT! My SATS are horrible but I’m pretty good at the ACT) just to be safe, but I definitely would not be surprised if you got an acceptance letter!

I would say you have a good chance. The fact that you speak three languages is awesome+ I think will really help your chances. Are there SATII’s in those subjects? If there are I would take them!! Not only would it focus more attention on your unique abilities, but it will also show your fluency in those languages.

The one thing I would be cautious about is I’ve heard applying ED puts you up against a lot of kids with stellar academics and scores, so be very careful in that category. Definitely take the SAT once more and maybe ACT if you like, in the fall? Really start studying now and you could do some real damage.

You have a decent SAT score and GPA but I would retake the SAT if you’re applying ED. Try taking a subject test or AP related to comp science. Doing an activity related to your major would also help. I can see that you’re interested in comp science based on your courses. I think you have a decent chance of getting in!

I think your SAT is fine and your classes are really rigorous…maybe more leadership positions would help…maybe ask yourself, what do I have that the other applicant’s don’t? and try to highlight that as much as possible.
I think you have a good chance ED
Good luck!
