<p>According to <a href="http://www.vanderbilt.edu/engage/faq.html%5B/url%5D">http://www.vanderbilt.edu/engage/faq.html</a> you generally need a cumulative 3.5 GPA. That is for the overall program. The med school may have special requirements, but 3.5 should be somewhere around the actual figure. I would ask an official from the university.</p>
<p>As for how it compares to Northwestern and Brown, I can't say. I do know that there aren't many people who get accepted into the program each year. Approximately 10 incoming freshmen are accepted into ENGAGE. ENGAGE covers Vanderbilt's schools of Medicine, Law, Management, Nursing, Divinity, Engineering, and Education. Perhaps all of them enter the med program, though I doubt that is the case.</p>
<p>It is possible to apply to the program as a current student after your freshman year, though I am no sure what kind of grades you need or how competitive it is.</p>
