Vandy Fans! And other geniuses who want to help out a friend...

Hi, I recently visited Vanderbilt and I LOVED it. However, I know that it is going to be a reach school. Basically, I was wondering what you all thought of my chances at acceptance. I will try to keep the stats short and simple: SAT: CR: 690 M: 630 W: 780. Retaking is nearly out of the question. I am extremely involved. I am in several clubs; at least 4. I am in National Honor Society as well as Spanish Honor Society. I am a part of Chamber Singers and choir. I am on student council and a sports team. I’m on the school newspaper and literary magazine. I have won a handful of awards. I have a high GPA. By graduation I will have completed 9 AP classes and several Honors. I am a peer leader and a service leader. I participate in copious amounts of community service. I tutor. I’ve had on and off jobs over the past three summers. I am a minority as well. I also think that I will have a pretty strong essay as my strengths lie in writing and I also have a compelling story to tell that I feel truly portrays my individuality and personality. I go to a private school. I have good relationships with a few teachers who I feel will write positive recommendations. Despite a seemingly full resume, I worry over my math SAT score. Also, does anyone know the value of writing scores? Do you think that I am “special” enough to be one of the 25% below the middle 50%?—at least for math! (Middle 50% CR: 670-760 M: 690-770 W: 660-750) I would really appreciate any feedback at all. Thanks so much.

you’re a minority, you’ll get in with those scores if vandy looks at writing.

What exactly is your GPA and are you a rising senior or junior? If you are a junior you have time to work on your math and I wouldn’t worry.

I’ll be a senior next year. My GPA is somewhere around a 4.3 weighted 4.0 unweighted, I believe.
