I logged on to see the prompts for the merit scholarships and the deadline was extended by two weeks? Am I hallucinating or
I DON’T KNOW I’M FREAKING OUTTTTT
I checked their merit scholarship description page and still says Dec. 1 but MyAppVU says Dec. 5 and Dec. 15 aslkdfjlsdkfjlakfjalskdjlfkasj
My eyes deceive me as well. I just read the drop dead date of 12/1 this morning, confirmed it with vandy and cc, and now it says 12/15
Did you confirm by calling Vanderbilt? Or did you just check on the portal?
I just noticed that too. Are you all going to submit tonight or on the new deadline?
I double checked the due date of 12/1 on the website and the portal but at some point during the day the date was changed to 12/15. I have not talked with Vanderbilt for verification but we are taking advantage of the 2 week extension to refine my S’s essay.
Well that’s a little annoying, I submitted my CV app a few days early to avoid any possible tech difficulties but I would’ve loved an extra two weeks to work on it and improve my essay
@WiscoRunner I agree. Clearly they have not received a lot of applications and feel the need to extend the deadline so they can get more in. Kind of unfair to the kids who met the deadline.
@Living61 Definitely. Sigh.
I think they updated it again… it says “only for those who just submitted the admissions application”. I thought I had more time to polish my app, so do I still get considered?
Still upsets me that they extended for those who just submitted application. I stayed up till 3:00 AM finishing my application on Tuesday night so I would have access to the scholarship for Friday. ://// o well
This seems so unfair to the people who did it ontime. I hope they get a selection bump.
@Booajo I understand your feeling about it being unfair to those who submitted before the extension was announced and mostly agree with you. My son went to submit before the deadline and was surprised to see the extension. I hoped that he would go ahead and submit, just in case there would be a bump, but he decided to wait thinking he should spend more time on it (since they offered it). Along with everything else he has to do, I knew that wouldn’t happen:) He did submit it several days ago in its original state. But he did have the opportunity to make changes, if he had chosen to use it.
While I agree that the students who submitted for the initial deadline may have a little disadvantage, I also believe that once Vanderbilt states there’s an extension (with no apparent penalty), it also wouldn’t be fair to have a difference in the way they evaluate the applications. Either way, someone could be disadvantaged.
I wonder if Vanderbilt didn’t have as many applications for the CV as they expected? If so, I’m not crazy about the way they handled it but it makes sense for them. This whole process is more about institutional needs, not the students’ application process.
