Vandy or Northwestern?

Hello! I need advice in choosing the right school.
I got into NU, Vandy, and Cornell. I want to pick out of NU and Vandy (Arts and Science). Both cost the same.

My passion has been primarily science/math and I CONSIDER doing PhD in physics. YET, I am also interested in and want to explore, in college, many different areas including psycology, social justice, and even economy/business a little. I forecast that my intersets will probably change.

I am an Asian male (US citizen) and serious about academics but also enjoy socializing, sports, and music. Have lived in big cities all my life. Any advice, pls?

Is weather a factor? Unless you like cold and windy, Vanderbilt gets the nod here.

Music: Chicago is a great city all around, but music is very easy to access from the Vanderbilt campus.

Both are great schools. I like both Chicago and Nashville, but for different reasons. I’m a parent, not a student, but I’d go with Nashville if I were a student. Everything is accessible, close-in, and among those students I know at both schools, the Vanderbilt students seem to have a lot more to do with town life than Northwestern students.

I really recommend visiting both schools. I think it might help you make a decision.

I have heard physics is not as strong a science major as other science majors at Vandy. I’m not sure I would choose that major at Vandy-and my D is a student at Vandy!

Why is Cornell off your list? Social justice? Cornell has 4,000 classes going at once in 7 colleges - the school of industrial and labor relations might be a place you could find classes in social justice. Also, for sciences, I would guess that Cornell would beat the other 2. physics? that’s in engineering, arts & sciences, and agriculture school. You couldn’t have a more thorough education from many perspectives…I had 2 kids to go Vanderbilt and we loved it, but you seem to be looking for more.
