GPA: 3.4UW school doesn't weight w/ 5 Ap's and 5 honors courses
SAT: 1450 M740 V710, psat:216 National Merit Semi Finalist (is the really that important?)
Essays: One really excellent one I'm using at all the schools with better than good ones for each
Recs: 2 favorite teachers wrote excellent letters
EC's: 200+ volunteer hours, junior state of america, young democrats club, math club, knowledge bowl, tennis 4 year varsity and captain senior year, student senate, founder of a used cell phone drive for domestic violence awareness
Character: like to have lots of fun, can get along with about anyone but I love being around really smart people who have a dumb sense of humor (i.e. albert einstein who laughs his head off watching the movie Old School haha)
Location: Bellevue, WA Newsweek magazine ranked us the 13th best public high school in the country two years ago.

So how 'bout it?

I think that you have a good chance at Vanderbilt. My stats are similar to yours and I will also be applying RD here. Is Vandy your top choice? Its one of mine, along with Duke. Good luck to us both!

if you are so smart, sat wise, why do you have a 3.4uw gpa? thats what top schools will ask, and it will hurt you.

still good chances.. forgot to post that lol :)

However, they'll probably give you some slack since to you go to a tough school.

leejwwc - yeah its on my top lists, im applying to emory ed, but I really do like vandy along with other southern schools like U of Richmond, washington and lee, davidson and wake forest.

bsbllallstr8 - no I know what you mean, people tell me all the time, the fact that I have never really taken an easy class till this year is why my gpa is low. i could have taken bs classes cuz my school doesn't weight so it wouldnt even matter. oh well i have what I have :/

ah i see, hard classes always help.

yeah, hopefully they will see that. the fact that im very active as well will be important I hope

Youre definately in

ah relief, thanks but are you sure, it seems harder to get into than it seems

bump please

bumper scrumpers

could someone please tell me if i have a chance of being accepted and maybe receiving some kind of merit based aid.

SAT - V-620, M-710 Composite 1330
ACT - composite 30
GPA Weighted is 4.3 (5 for AP and 4 for everything else)
Unweighted is 3.95
I have taken 10 AP courses(A's in everything cept for AP Physics C)
I am ranked 14 out of 397
I have decent essays and very good recs
I have tons of EC's i dont have time to list them all but they include the basics like national honor society, President of Mu Alpha Theta, Captain soccer team, etc.

soccerrulz888- you have a pretty good chance of acceptance but it really depends on what school you're applying to at Vandy and as for merit aid you probably won't receive anything because your SAT scores are too low (just saying based on what they have done in the past) good luck!

thanks. I am applying to the School of Engineering as a Biomedical Engineer, and i figured my scores were to low but thanks anways

Question for you, or anyone else who can answer this...

Do you know which school at Vandy has the highest acceptance rate? I think Peabody must be pretty tough. Any thoughts?

tribe--im not really sure...i applied to the engineering school but i would think the largest school--A&S--would have the highest acceptance rate

soccer--well the SAT avg for the school of engineering is around a 1370-1380 so you have a good chance if your grades are high, you show a lot of interest, and your extracurricular activites show committment

annak-- I could be wrong, but I think Blair has the highest acceptance rate.

Actually, the music school (Blair) is possibly harder than A&S due to the audition factor and the instrument involved. Statistics on Vanderbilt's website indicate that Engineering and Peabody are "easier" for admission at least looking at the admission percentages for last year.

Blair's hardest to get into, I know that much. I believe for the rest its (hardest to easiest): Engineering, A&S, and Peabody.
