Vandy Sororities

I know there has been a previous thread about sororities, but I have just recently been accepted into Vanderbilt by EDI. I really want to join a sorority, and I am curious to hear what the sororities are like.

kd
theta
kappa
tridelt
chio

that's all that really matters in my book.

girls from those sororities date guys from ka sae deke sigma chi and sometimes beta

the other sororities and fraternities have their own groups

TriDelt – hot blondes (e.g. Victoria Secret Model Molly Sims)
Theta – southern belles (they have several beauty pageant winners)

Kappa -- cute party girls

KD – cosmopolitan

ChiO – good girls/religious/community service

PiPhi – very wealthy Northern girls; drugs
AlphaChi – down to earth/normal girls

AOPi – sort of a mix

[Independents]

ADPi

DG

thanks for the posts. i'm from the midwest..i guess thats north..but would you say that theres a divide between northern and southern in the sororities?

Not at all. Theta is the only one that seems to be exclusively southern.

definitely theta and in the past tridelt have been more southern at vanderbilt, pi phi is a little more northern, kappa and kd are a good mix

how exactly does the rush process work? is it first semester or second?

Recruitment is held at the beginning of the second semester for freshman women. During the fall semester, you can learn more about houses by attending philanthropy events and participating in fall rounds.
For Prospective Members | Greek Life at Vanderbilt University

a sophomore guy's perspective ...

kappa delta (KD) - really diverse group of hot girls who all know how to have a good time
kappa kappa gamma (Kappa) - cute party girls, chill
kappa alpha theta (Theta) - a lot of girls' first choice house if they're from tennessee or texas

delta delta delta (Tridelt) - sometimes get a bad rep for being the stereotypical blondes but are breaking away from that, lost of lot of their big rushes to kd and kappa last rush
chi omega (Chi O) - southern, really sweet, some very religious girls
pi beta phi (Pi Phi) - girls who don't get into kd or kappa, partiers
alpha delta pi (ADPi) - always have the highest gpa of all sororities

alpha chi omega (AChiO)
alpha omicron pi (AOPi)
delta gamma (DG)

it sucks that some of the houses get either a "northern" or "southern" stigma, it's not necessarily a good or bad thing it's just what ive noticed. obviously these are just my observations i don't mean to offend anyone

Does ChiO party a all?

Is joining the Greek scene crazy expensive?

i think the average dues are around 1k a semester

i must say, I'm a bit apprehensive about the predominance of greek life on campus.

someone describe the fraternities? (I know, I see the thread name)

Describe in detail the induction process

it's pretty simple. if you decide to join a fraternity, you just go around and meet guys, you end up getting a bid and you are eventually initiated. nobody hazes at vanderbilt.
