<p>ECs:
- Internships at 3 medical institutes. Directly viewed 10 live surgeries. 2 hysterectomies, 2 gall bladder removals, 1 pancreas removals, 2 Hernia Meshplasties, 2 cataract surgeries, and 1 skin grafting procedure on an inflamed foot of a diabetic. Took extensive notes on procedures which are signed by all doctors involved. (40 hours total)</p>

<li><p>Shadowed an anesthesiologist and watched him administer anesthesia to all patients in the above procedures. This included local/regional anesthesia, general (full body) anesthesia, and topical anesthesia (in the cataract procedures) (30+ hours total)</p></li>
<li><p>Founded a website that markets weight loss/exercise programs for product vendors.</p></li>
<li><p>Produce digital/electronic music with programs such as Logic Pro, Ni Massive, Ableton Live, and Fruity Loops. Have music on soundcloud, youtube, beatport, and facebook and will soon have singles and/or an EP on iTunes.</p></li>

<p>I know my ethnicity and income bracket will hurt me but honestly speaking do I even have a shot at half the schools I want to apply to? My essay writing skills are superb and my recs will be great no doubt if it makes it any easier to chance me.</p>
<p>You definitely have a shot at all of the schools that you’re going to apply to. You’ll definitely get into U of Michigan, but with Ivies and schools of that caliber it;s difficult for everyone to get in, but you’re a competitive applicant. </p>
<p>Since you seem to be interested in medicine, why don’t you look as some BS/MD programs?</p>
<p>Thanks rijudasgupta! Well I have thought about BS/MD programs but I feel they rush the procedure too much to learn valuable information and experience (ie. 6 year and 7 year programs that don’t require MCAT). I have always been penchant toward 4+4 programs. As for the SAT, I have a 2340 superscored (740, 800, 800) and a 2230 as my highest in one sitting so my ACT is still a higher converted score. I will probably submit both tests, however.</p>
<p>UMich is a definite. I know a lot of people with lesser stats that get admitted. As for the others, I think you have a really good chance. You seem to have a lot of experience and volunteering. Good fit for these schools. You can obviously never be certain, but I’d say you have a great chance at all.</p>
<p>I think you are strong at most of the schools. The good UCs get so many Asian applicant that you might have trouble, but schools like Rice and Vandy are in the process of trying to diversify. Vandy mildly discriminates against premed kids because they get so many who change their minds, but your dedication should clear that up. JHU is extremely hard to get into for premed, so that could be tricky, but at the end of the day you are a very smart kid with a well-defined passion, and that should help you immensely.</p>
<p>HYPSM would be a reach, simply because they are so competitive and have so many qualified applicants. I think you have a really good shot at the rest of the schools you listed and will probably get into those! </p>
<p>Update:
Did poorly on AP tests
4s in Bio and USH and 3s in English Language and Calc BC. I am rescoring both my 3s because I felt CONFIDENT I got 5s on them. I had taken the 2010, 2009, and 2008 exams for both of them as practice and got high 5s on them. Will these scores hurt me granted my grades and scores are really high and are still going up (grades at least)?</p>
<p>Nah haven’t sent my scores (or maybe to KU lol but I have already been told I am getting a full ride or near full ride there with my academic credentials).</p>
