So I've reached the point of total confusion and really could use some help. I'm currently a sophomore and have full ride offers to Vanderbilt, UGA and Alabama.

I was hoping to get some input into pros and cons for each school.

Thanks for the help.

Well first of all what sport? And do you intend on going pro in your sport?

Golf, my goal is to play professionally afterwards.

You aren’t halfway through 10th grade, and already have full-ride offers to three colleges?

Yup, they start recruiting really young. Any advice or input about these 3 would be greatly appreciated. :)

Have you visited each school? If not, you should to see what facilities they have, etc.

I think Alabama has consistently ranked mens golf teams …like in the top 5…so it is an elite program. It won the national championship in 2012.

Yes, I’ve visited them all but never got to spend a great amount of time at each (visits were only about 6-12 hours) the big problem I’m having is that I really like all three schools and are really looking for a comparison from a different point of view. Also, hoping to maybe get an idea of what campus life is like at each.

You’re only a sophomore. You have 2 years to decide, right? If so, don’t decide yet. Use this time to revisit if possible, follow their programs (heck, see if there are any coaching changes), and so forth.

How strong a student are you? You may not have SAT or ACT scores yet.

What state are you from?

UGA is nearly only instate students.

Bama is getting close to being 50% OOS students. By the time you’d enroll, Bama will likely be more than 50% OOS.

Vandy is a smaller private, so it’s going to be a different atmosphere.

Yes I realize I have 2 years to decide but with the way recruiting works I can only choose 1 school so I have to let the other 2 coaches know asap so they can find someone else for that year. Coaching changes are very unlikely with these school, already have asked coaches about that.

I’m a good student straight-A 4.0 honors student my whole life. Took ACT in 8th grade and scored a 21 composite. Retaking it again soon. Hoping to major in Engineering in college.

From Florida.

Ok…you took the ACT in 8th grade and got a 21. That bodes well for your future since you’ve been a strong student from then on.

What all do you want to know. I’ve been on all 3 campuses.

What I really want to know (and I don’t know if you can help me with it) Is what its like to go to school there… But the biggest thing I’m confused about is what type of students typically go there. Are they schools for big partiers? (I am not one) How easily it is to adjust to each of them as a freshman. How are the classes at each? Do the students enjoy going to school there?

Check out each schools profiles on the website College *******. Does the NCAA allow you to take overnight visits with a student? If so plan to do that. When are you actually expected to sign a letter of intent? I don’t know about golf, since the teams are smaller, but in other sports you don’t sign that letter until you are a senior. Only then are you committed to attending and the school committed to your scholarship. You have the right to change your mind up until the day you sign. I really think you should give yourself the time to get to know more about the three schools (and others that may offer you in the future and haven’t done so yet). Visit them over your school breaks or this summer and then make your verbal commitment was a junior. Time is on your side because it doesn’t sound like any of the schools will pull their offers since you are young and have 2 1/2 years of high school remaining. A lot can change for you and those coaches in that period of time.
