Hey everyone thanks for looking at my post.
I am very interested in computer science and would like to pursue this "hobby" into a career.
Does Vandy have a strong computer field?
I live in Nashville, but still know very little.
While here might as well ask for chances.
I am currently a junior in a very highly prestigious high school outside of Nashville.

I'm only a junior so any suggestions on anything I can improve on I would greatly appreciate it.
Also will being an instate resident help my chances of admitance or is this ignored
Also do strong recommendations from alumni help?

scratcth that I meant 3.72(UW) and 4.0(W)

First off, it is impossible to chance you at this point of time. I would try to bring that 3.72 up if you can. Upward grade trend will help you. Take the hardest classes that you can.
Aim for Sat/Act scores of 2200 or 33/34. I don’t think a 31 will get you admitted, sorry.

In state does not help you at all since Vandy is private school.

Alumni recommendations don’t really make a difference compared to regular recommendations, unless the Alumni is a huge donor. I went to their info session and they don’t particularly enjoy extra recommendations; they want quality rather than quantity.

They comically told the group that one student sent in like 29 recommendation letters. Don’t be that guy lol, just send in 2 teacher recommendations and 1 counselor report.

An ACT score of 30 is the 25th percentile for the class of 2014, so a 31 is certainly acceptable. The rest of the application will be the deciding factor. It looks like your ECs are good with several leadership positions. If you have good recommendations and essays, I’d say you are competitive.
