As a transfer student what happens when you have schools with May 1st deadlines that you were accepted into and then schools that have do not inform the transfer applicants of admission status till after May 1st (and are the preferred choices). Do you accept one of the May 1st schools and treat the schools responding after May 1st as though they were “waitlist schools that now offered admission after May 1st?” I understand when you are applying as a first time college student you do not want to double deposit on May 1st, but in the transfer case the dates do not line up. We called to asked if they could push out the May 1st deadline and it did not sound like they were willing to.
Unfortunately, it means that you put a deposit at your favorite of the “early” schools, and then if a “late” school you like better admits, you switch to it and lose the deposit you put on the “early” school.
The type of double deposit that you are not supposed to do is to hold spots at two colleges at the same time. But cancelling one in order to hold a place at another is ok, although you lose the deposit at the first one.
