Various Math Questions/COncepts pertaining to Math II

(2^x)*(2^y) = 2^(x+y) or 4^(x+y)? I'm confused on this one..

when you see a sqr. root of something, do you always assume only the positive value? Like sqr. root 64 = only +8 ?

how do you graph greatest integer functions... like the x

How do you calculate logs that do not have base 10 on the Ti 89?

if you have something like... x^.3245 = 5, how do you solve for x algebraically? (I can do this by just putting it in the Ti89 and pressing solve lol. but I wanna kno how to do it algebraically)

That's it... for now. Thanks!!

2^x+y. Its exponents. They get added.

Dont rely on ur calc so much.
Its much easier using concepts
take log both sides.
log x^.3245=log5
.3245logx=log5
get log x. then get antilog

Square root is always +ve.

u givin math dis jun?

Yea I am. Still need help with 3 and 4.

and another one:

In how many distinguishable ways can the 7 letters in the word Minimum be arranged, if all the letters are used each time?

logbase6of12=log12/log6

Use the change-of-base formula: log base b of n = log n / log b. So if you had log base 3 of 19, plug in (log 19 / log 3).

An easier way would be to raise both sides to a certain power. First, take a look at this equation: x^(1/5) = 7

How would you solve that? Well, if you raise both sides to the 5th power, you’d get [x^(1/5)]^5 = 7^5. Notice that the 1/5 and the 5 cancel out, so you’re left with x = 7^5.

Apply the same idea to x^.3245 = 5. Just raise both sides to the reciprocal of .3245, or 1/.3245, which will leave you with just x on the left side.

Since in MINIMUM there are 3 M’s , you do 3!
Since there are also 2 I’s , you have to do 2! as well
Then, since there are seven letters you do 7!, and then divide that (5040) by 3!2! (12) to get 420.
It will look like: 7! / (3!2!) = 420

The reason why you have to take into account the multiple letters is because you are looking for distinguishable ways.

KALATHALAN i like ur method better.
