Keep at it, @GMTplus7. The husband’s salary is $200k; OP’s is $180k, so they avg. ~$380k, not $200k. 
I think OP’s daughter may have to reconsider her preferences. If she doesn’t love the cold but gets accepted to a northern school with merit aid, she may want to take them up on their offer.
