Vassar 2008 Transfer

Hey all,

I'm wondering when everyone's going to start getting their letters--they said early May, which is infuriatingly ambiguous. First to get theirs, please update!

From previous threads though, acceptance is not looking likely... :/

i applied to vassar as well, and im anxiously awaiting my decision! although its very unlikely considering they take a tiny number of transfers...less than other schools of that nature and size. well good luck! want to post stats? i need something to do while waiting!

Hmm...my HS gpa will be the death of me.

HS GPA: 2.4, unweighted, but that was at an all-honors college prep nationally ranked HS (sounds better than it was, and I was a SUPER slacker in HS)
APs: Three, two 5s and a 3
HS Extracurrics: Debate team co-captain and development chair, french exchange program, some volunteer tutoring
SATs: 2170
ACTs: 32

College:
Bottom 40 (of top 100) Lib arts school
1st sem GPA: 3.925
2nd sem: Eh, up in the air, prolly 3.5-3.7
Extracurics: Sports section editor and news writer for our newspaper, Model UN president, member of Lambda Sigma honor society, America Reads tutor, Lit mag co-editor, scientific/political journal columnist
Rec from the English department chair

But jeeze louise to be one of the 10 accepted last year I'm sure you had to find a cure for cancer or something equally outstanding, and considering my current college, I'm seriously not looking forward to my letter. Had to try though, you know?

I applied as well but its safe to say I will be getting a rejection letter soon (read NYU transfer page for details)

yeah i had about a 3.4 unweighted in high school. last semester i had a 4.0 and this semester im thinking around a 3.9. i have a bunch of volunteer work (president of my high schools volunteering club), some student teaching (certificed hebrew school teacher), and some other little clubs. almost all of my stuff involved working with kids because i want to be a teacher. SATs were not great, 610w 620m 660v...not even close to the vassar level. the only thing that has a possiblity of saving my at this point is that i sent some art work from this year. but lets just say im expecting the small envelope...
good luck to you guys though!

is everyone here male or female?

im a female. is vassar more accepting of one than the other?

I applied. Here's some stats:

I have spoken multiple times with the crew coach, and may be receiving a letter of reccomendation from him.

I really just want my letter from vassar now. it is the only school I applied to that I would still be ecstatic attending. I don't see myself getting in but in all actually, it is most likely THE perfect school for me personally. (from what I know about it)

Who wants to volunteer to call and nag them and ask when transfer decisions will go out??

"Early May"--what the hell does that mean?

If nobody's willing maybe I'll do it by the end of this week...

I actually told them I had an acceptance from another school (small fabrication) and was hoping to find out my decision as soon as possible. response, you should know by the first week or two of may. bleh, send it now!

collegeboard says theyll tell us by may 10... thats like FOREVER from now!
why does vassar have to be so amazing but so unattainable at the same time?

HS
GPA:3.7 (at a SUPER hard private prep school where literally 30% of my class went to an ivy or stanford)

college:
UCSB
GPA: 4.0 (5 A+, 4As)
Econ major with an international focus
Recs: probably really good, my econ professor wrote one for Econ 1 where I was in the top 5 of 400 people
Essay: i thought it was good lol. nothing creative though
honors program, leadership certificate program, deans honors, working 10 hrs a week
my fingers are getting lazy, so thats it... oh im female and need financial aid, which will make it even harder to get in!

what other schools are people applying to?

this person makes me look like garbage, typical of my postings on CC. (sorry, didn't catch that you were female at first - EDIT)

I applied to UPitt, NYU, BU, and Vassar. I wish I would have applied to a few different schools as well but like I've said, if I see rejection I always have spring to try them out.

(I'd really like Vassar though)

dont worry adam, whenever i look at these kind of posts i have to remember that summing up your whole life into one paragraph always looks really impressive. and i have to remember that a lot cause i check this site obsessively now haha

i also applied to barnard, colgate, emory, georgetown, macalester, oxy, and trinity, but vassar is by far my first choice!

did you hear from anywhere yet?

yeah, colgate = rejected!

definitely put the least effort into that app... i even know someone on the board of directors and i didnt bother talking to them lol

we should be finding out next week I guess. Right in the middle of my finals too. I wish it would come tomorrow!

i'm so ready to know...

you got me all excited to get my rejection, bumping this you jerk!

edit: just read the "official" Vassar transfer thread. 3% huh? sounds great.

yeah i was rejected yesterday. oh well, what can you do. admission was virtually impossible this year...
