I just got my waitlisted letter...I actually thought it was funny because I was holding the envelope thinking, a rejection shouldn't be this thick! Plus, I was expecting a rejection anyway...I'm not going through the trouble of listing my stats -- let it be known that they were pretty good (2300 SAT, 98 GPA, etc). Maybe I'll crosspost them from another post sometime.

I will tell you this, however -- I am 99% sure that my waitlisting was due to a lack of demonstrated interest, since I live pretty close by and never visited the campus, had a really vague "why Vassar" statement...and I intentionally put lots of, er, emo writing into the "Your Space" thing. I wasn't really into Vassar from the start, and I didn't really try to hide it on my app.

For those of you who really do want to go to Vassar, though -- I hope you guys made it! Although it wasn't my first choice by a mile, it's still a lovely school and those who want it will certainly be able to have a good time there. :)

thricedotted- I had the same problem with two of my other schools- Colgate and Grinnell. Waitlisted at both, showed little interest and either (and in the end, even if I were accepted, I think I'd choose Bryn Mawr over them). So I know exactly how you feel, and I thought the SAME thing when I was opening my letters (this rejections are sort of bulky....).

Even though I am now sort of doubtful about Vassar, I did show interest (interviewed) and my essay wasn't vague, but it was sort of really really odd, so that might help me or it might kill me. I sort of hope that I might do better with Vassar, but it would make my decision easy if I got bad news, haha.

had the letter waiting in my mailbox after I walked home...it pretty much made my day.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: so excited! Vassar's youtube is AMAZINNGGG...I love the farmers market one!

Am I going? Got 2 wait for finaid, plus compare with some other schools. I think the fact that I am super excited over the potential of a farmers market may make me a good fit for vassar, though.

Son was also rejected. Good stats (sorry, I'm not allowed to post), heavy theater experience, state and national writing awards, violinist, etc. He never visited - so maybe lack of demonstrated interest?
