Vassar Class of 2017 RD

Must be at least one or two people out there who didn't apply ED or EDII. Here's to the regular folks--and their kids and parents!

How's the wait going?

Hey!

I got deferred EDI… pretty much lost all hope by now but at least I can’t be any more disappointed than I am already, right? :P

If you don’t mind…what are your grades/scores?

I applied regular decision as well. I wish I had applied ED though, because the wait is killing me!

tougis: no worries, I’m curious about others’ stats too :P

SAT: 770M / 770CR / 790W
SAT2s: 760Lit / 720BioM / 690USH
GPA: ~91.5 or an A-, but what might have gotten me deferred is that my junior year grades were solidly in the B-range, or 83-86 (with a couple even lower…yikes!).

I had decent testing and most people are surprised I didn’t get accepted when they hear my SAT score, but keep in mind Vassar places the most importance on your grades (I completely understand why but abhor this nonetheless!), and mine weren’t too great. Plus, those SAT2s :(

Thanks, katzly. I wish you luck. My D has a 3.79 UW and a 4.50 W GPA (dunno how the weighting works, actually). Her SATs scores were 750 CR, 670 M & 780 W. Her SAT IIs were Lit 740 & Math I 730. She sent a short story for “your space”.

Hi! I’m expecting a rejection, but I’m gonna stay positive.
First visited sophomore year and fell in love. I originally planned to do ED, but then I got worried and unsure about possibly being locked into a school early on. So obviously I ended up applying RD since I’m here!

87 GPA (but my senior grades are all in the 90s, so I’m stoked my midyr report looks awesome)
27 ACT
Docent @ NY Aquarium
Yearbook
Writer

wow bummer… with that SAT score you should be in :(. Luckily you should apply to schools that value standardized testing, i think northwestern is one?

Thanks joshsnow!!

I do believe that after a certain point though…like 2250…the differences in scores after that don’t really mean anything. It’s a difference of like one more question right or wrong on each section.
Unfortunately, I don’t think even my scores can make up for my grades :(

Also, I was considering applying to Northwestern! But the amount of students they take from my school was only 8/30 or so last year and their scores/GPAs were all over the place… very erratic and I eventually decided against it.

Where are you guys from?!

Hey guys! I applied RD from Florida. Does anyone know when the notification date is (if it’s not exactly on April 1)?

Bump for the notification date. I don’t know why I’m asking, because it’s not going to make the end of march come any faster but maybe… just maybe some magic might work

This is from the admissions notification date thread:

Vassar: (last year = mailed March 27; international emails March 28)

were any likelies sent out this year?

Just remember that test scores aren’t everything…I have lower scores than you, and I got in with a full-ride scholarship…your essays are as important as your grades. Just keep that in mind:)

Vassar doesn’t offer merit scholarships, so if you got FA that amounted to a full ride, it was because you needed financial aid, not because of your grades or scores. Just pointing that out in case anyone else thinks they might get merit aid at Vassar based on scores.

I’m not saying that my scores got me a full-ride…what I mean is that you can still get in even if they’re not perfect, just as long as your grades are good and your essays are strong

i’m just keeping my fingers crossed for a good news! does anyone know the notification date?

March 27 5 pm EDT

What were ur stats???

A little bit less pressure now with an acceptance to Wellesley under my belt, but Vassar is still my top choice!! Fingers crossed :(
