Vassar Class of 2021

@intstudent2021 Its not FDU, it’s Dickinson College hahaha

@AllyssXx haha oops! Congrats any way!

Son got in and was so excited until we got FA. We are expected to pay 46,000 a year, there is no way that is happening! So disappointed

@intstudent2021 Hey! Just wanted to tell you not to give up. Less than an hour ago, I was accepted into Tufts. It’s a ducking crapshoot, and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise!!

Does anyone know if Vassar has mentor sessions or Office hours for their courses?

profs hold scheduled office hours every week and are willing to meet w you outside those hours if you make an appt, also every dept has interns (upperclassmen majors) that hold office hours every week

@AllyssXx that’s wonderful! All the best!

@intstudent2021 Did you end up getting any good results?

@AllyssXx not with enough FA, sadly.
I’ll keep you updated.
Are you choosing Tufts?

@intstudent2021 Well, I didn’t get enough FA either so I’m appealing. If it doesn’t work, I’m going for Dickinson.

My financial aid package hasn’t come out yet… has anyone else received theirs? Should I still be waiting?

My son got his a couple of days ago and it was very generous. He got it first by email and a copy arrived in the mail on Monday.

@NCMOM24 Thank you so much! They sent me mine last week. It wasn’t enough. So choosing between UCLA, Cal, and LMU!

yay off waitlist now

There doesn’t seem to be much discussion on this acceptance thread of any aid provided.

can anyone comment on what Merit Awards Vasar may typically give?

Can anyone comment on what % of need based aid is satisfied with grants vs Loans?

@Schooldad54 - your most accurate source for this information will be Vassar’s own official website: Vassar.edu. You should look yourself for the most reliable and latest info and not rely on us. That having been said:

No merit aid, no athletic scholarships, just need based aid.
Vassar admissions are need blind.
100% of need is met, and for lower income students, loans are either eliminated or reduced.
Need to submit FAFSA and CSS Profile.

Does anyone know the acceptance breakdown male v female? My understanding is that, traditionally, four times as many women apply to Vassar as men. If this is true then the acceptance rate is much more favorable for men than women. I have looked elsewhere online but I am unable to find this information.

Jon234, all schools report via the Common Data Set. Historically @ Vassar, male % about 2X female, though hard to know how ED effects this as not broken out by gender.

@jon234
In the most recent CDS - the admit rate for males is shown as 55% and females about 15%
