Vassar College "Your Space" help? I don't know what to do.

I know what the space is for, but i'd like to know examples of what some people have put in their "Your Space"? I'm not sure if I should write something like an essay, or include some photography i've done, I don't know what to put in.

I'm not majoring in art, photography, or drama or anything like that. I'm from France and have traveled all through Europe. Should I do something with that?

Advice?

P.S: Just realized I should probably post in the Vassar College area...sorry.

I was wondering this as well

I put some poetry I wrote. I’d say…just put anything that defines you or something you’re passionate about.

I was going to make a video about why I wanted to go there and kind of back it up with things about myself that I wasn’t to talk about in my essay.

I think go with what feels to be more an expression of you. Whether it be abstractly or literally so. I was wondering…if we’re submitting the Common App and Supplement online…can we still send in a hard copy of something for Your Space?

If my commonapp essay speaks briefly of my experience living in Europe, would it be too much to make a video about something like “My life in Europe, things that made me happy” with a bunch of pictures and stuff?

@Knsqld, yes. I believe it would be best to also provide a hard copy of a submission.

@Nina2332, I think that would be a great idea, just make sure it’s not too similar to the essay. Focus more so on other aspects and quirks about yourself that Vassar might find interesting about you.

Thanks for the advice! Yes i’ll try to incorporate personal stuff about me, like my habits, things I love, etc. I hope it will turn out good!

could I include a piece of creative writing I wrote a year ago? (it’s a short story) …other than that, the only idea I can think of is just including another essay

^ I actually think that’s a good idea born2dance94! :)

thanks  maybe I’ll go with that

For those of you making videos, you can see previous years’ examples on YouTube.

Don’t stress too much about it. I did not put anything there. During the info session, they really emphasized that it is not mandatory, that people with a Your Space get admitted at the same rate as those without, etc.

I understand that yes, but I felt the need and desire to add something more personal about me. I finished the video after 6hours, hopefully they’ll like it :)

thank you popcharlie93 :)
