The deadline for early decision at Vassar is today, and therefore everyone who knows they're applying ED has done so (At least, I hope you've done so already. If not, you have just over 3 hours left!!!).

I thought we should have an area where we can all get to know each other, hang out on the interwebs, discuss our first choice school and why we love it so much that we opted for a binding contract, and anxiously count down the days until December 15th.

Also, this way we'll know people when we all step foot on that gorgeous Poughkeepsie campus in the fall (Because we're all getting in, of course!).

My daughter applied to Vassar for ED1. She is more of the type of wanting to push it out of her mind, so if it’s okay, I will jump in here for her. She went to a class in October and felt so comfortable on the campus…I don’t think she’s that confident about getting in…hopefully the ED will help. I’ve decided not to talk about it at all with her, so that’s where we’re at. Best wishes to you and all the others who are in waiting mode!

Hey, I’m Amanda. I applied ED1 and will totally be counting down the next month or so with you guys. I’m also on facebook, so feel free to send me a message with your url or something! :)

I applied ED 1- and did not realize that the Supplement had to be sent separately until today. Well, I’ll have fun counting down with everyone! :)

I have to say that Vassar seems somewhat slow/disorganized in this regard. My D applied to 2 state schools ( which receive a zillion applications), and their systems have everything ready for review. I guess we have to have faith that Vassar knows what it’s doing.

Give Vassar at least a week. I sent mine in November 8, and I got mine November 16. I think it takes Vassar more time because they’re a smaller school? Who knows.

Question I’ve been meaning to ask those that have applied:

Did any of you sent in your photograph? I know it was optional, and I didn’t send it in because I didn’t want my race/looks to come into play with my application. Vassar probably has tons of blonde Irish-Italian New England girls (almost everyone in MA is Irish or Italian), so I didn’t want to flaunt that fact.

I did. I sent in a picture from when my school did The Wiz in March and the principles were doing autographs. Big cheesy smile, costume (mic and all!), posters and silver Sharpies. I wanted to send in a picture with an extra-curricular involved.

I sent in a picture taken at my town’s annual music festival, with myself posing at the piano, which I play.
I am black, but I wasn’t sending it for any sort of advantage/disadvantage; I have this huge grin in the picture, smiling until my eyes squinted, and I wanted them to see that here’s a happy kid doing an activity that she loves.

wow, mattsayfierce, hope your spelling was a little better on your application and you didn’t put down “principles” for the “principals” in the production.

yes I agree with chirichimes! I am an Asian, but I sent a picture as well, in which I played the cello. but I am really not sure whether I may get accpeted or not :(

I’m so glad I found this; I’ve been dying to talk about Vassar with someone and all my friends are sick of hearing about it.
I applied ED1 and my interview is on Tuesday!
Just 24 days until decision!!
