Hey guys! Just wanted to start a thread for people apply ED to Vassar this year!
Hi, I am also applying ED to Vassar. I was actually just working on my supplemental essay last night
I’m also applying ED! Just submitted my application last night :-S
does applying ED2 instead of ED1 hurt your application?
I would say it def helps show interest in the school but I don’t think the ED2 acceptance rate is as high as the one for ED1
ED1 and ED2 both show your love and commitment to school. It definitely does not hurt your application!
Have you guys toured Vassar? I toured it this summer and fell in love with it
Yes! I toured in July and I also fell in love. The library and the dorms were the most memorable places.
I definitely agree!
Are you guys submitting pictures with your application? I think it would help to personalize my application, but I feel like photos can lead to a lot of inherent bias in the admission process, so I’m not sure if I should.
I’m applying ED! Super terrified, but I absolutely love it there.
I’m submitting a picture because I really like the personalization, and since I didn’t have anything for the YourSpace portion, I felt my application needed some sort of a piece of me…if that makes any sense.
I did the same thing.
Hi everyone! I’m applying ED I too! I just finished my supplement today (it literally took me so long to come up with a good essay LOL). What is everyone adding in the YourSpace section? I was thinking of doing a video but I’m not sure.
My daughter just applied ED last night. Now the wait begins! She added some videos of herself in the YourSpace section. She’s been active in the gun-control movement and had some footage of herself giving speeches. I think it’s just nice for the admissions officers to see some other part of you, or to see a picture. Helps to personalize your application a bit.
So all the Ed1 apps will be in now. Does anyone know what the process is now, at Vassar’s end? I mean, I know they review and decide over the next three weeks or so (gulp), but what are the distinct steps?
Well, interviews are probably part of the picture. Anyone have interviews with either alumni or admissions officers? My daughter had one with a local alum. Also, I note that last year’s ED1 decisions came out on Dec. 11, which was a Monday. I expect we’ll know by Dec. 15.
Hi, @SophiedanceNC, I’m reading your comment about photos potentially triggering some inherent bias. Could you explain a little more what you mean? I’m definitely not challenging your idea – I think you’re right! I’m just interested in your further thoughts on this. I had the same concern with the interview process. Thanks, and good luck to all!
I wouldn’t argue with someone who feels subject to possible bias from submitting a photo, but Vassar strikes me as a place least likely to be biased by anyone’s picture. My GF is Class of '22 - and I came close to submitting ED last year, but did not - so I’m an outsider with only a little insight. But I know Vassar is the epitome of a welcoming place. I visited during a recent media personality lecture, and didn’t want to leave. There’s a vibe missing at my unnamed school. GL to all Eders!
Thanks for your insight, @CGCC20! I get the same vibe from Vassar. All the students I know there are happy, open-minded, and welcoming.
