Vassar or Haverford?

title explains itself.

Hmmm... if I get into both schools, I may be faced with a similar decision.

I prefer Vassar over Haverford, but both are good.

Gotta go with Vassar. It's so much cooler.

Definitely Haverford, but I'm biased. I think both are good schools, probably equally prestigious but each has a different atmosphere. But you can't really go wrong with either, they're both great schools.

Although I nearly applied ED to Haverford, I think at this point and time I am leaning more towards Vassar (if I get in).

Vassar, Vassar, Vassar!! I have spent a lot of time (weekends) at both schools and I found the Vassar people to be much cooler overall. Then again, it depends what you are comfortable with. Vassar was more liberal/ international while Haverford struck me as much more nerdy if that makes any sense. Overall Vassar was awesome every time I was there.

Redbull298- have you visited both schools? What makes Haverford one of the top schools in your college list? The Vassar campus is so beautiful, but I can't say anything about Haverford because I haven't visited it. I am still waiting to hear from Vassar, and now that Haverford sent me more information about the school I am being attracted to them. Do you feel more attracted to any school at this point?

yeah i've done overnights at both.. i'm a recruit at both (and they play each other! which is going to be awkward lol) both of the campuses are gorgeous. concerning my college list, i applied to a bunch of ivies plus gtown and bc. . honestly though, regardless of where else i get in, i'm pretty much either going to haverford vassar swat or amherst (as of right now) i really see no difference academically (in terms of getting a fantastic education, not necessarily class size, resources, etc). Furthermore, at a school like haverford, you would get so much more individual attention.. I think I'd be happier overall rather than being lost in a class with hundreds of kids.. and I probably would thus do better. Now, in terms of differentiating between Haverford and Vassar, I'm still tossing that around right now myself. The thing that I like about Haverford is that it's really close to Philly, so you can easily chill in the city, meet kids from other colleges.. maybe get to experience life at a bigger college such as Penn once in awhile.. etc etc. Also, you can take classes at swarthmore, bryn mawr, and penn, two of which I really liked a lot (and applied to). The academic concentration I would be working with is supposed to be quite good. Vassar, on the other hand, was more fun during my visit. The people were extremely nice and really cool. The kids were more.. mainstream, shall I say? I wasn't lectured at Vassar for wearing an Abercrombie shirt, let's put it that way haha. Academically, Vassar is very prestigious, as well. Vassar, though, is not as close to a city, and the surrounding town is not a place where I would want to spend a lot of time. But I liked the closeness of the team at Vassar, more so than Haverford. I felt more comfortable at Vassar. So right now I am really torn between the two.. hope that helped a bit!

Interesting... I always have thought of Haverford as being more mainstream than Vassar... that's what I found on my visits and that's what I've heard from others. Academically,in terms of reputation, I'd say they are close to being equal, although Haverford has a slight edge.

maybe you're right .. most of the kids I talked to at Vassar were athletes.

Redbull298- what is your academic concentration which you say is good at Haverford?

political science
