I really like Vassar and it is my first choice. It isn't really a reach but I might not get in b/c I have a lot of financial need. What are some other schools just like Vassar? I do not want any schools that are any more north than Poughkepsie and that are any harder to get into than Vassar. I feel like I have looked at every LAC in the US, so if other people applying to Vassar could please help, that would be great!

I second this request. my d loves vassar and will apply. she's having trouble finding similar colleges. any thoughts?

two of the schools I'm applying to besides Vassar that reminded me of it were Pomona and Brown. I guess that doesn't really help much, since all 3 schools are pretty tough to get into, but those all struck me as somewhat similar in atmosphere. I adored Vassar, though. It's so beautiful. Best of luck with your application!

Most schools are not alike in all respects; so sort of depends on which aspects you like,

FWIW, D1 applied to Vassar, also applied to Oberlin, might be worth checking out. Other schools also, but they were harder admits or North of Poughkeepsie.

D2 is applying to Vassar, and mostly completely different schools from D1. some of these are also equal admits, or North of Pughkeepsie. Not sure maybe Connecticut College is similar lattitude?

How about Skidmore? It fails the latitude test, but you get Saratoga Springs in exchange (cafes, bookstores, shops) and it's a straight shot up the Thruway. It's still a bit easier to get into than Vassar, I believe, and both schools tend toward the artsy/quirky end of the spectrum with athletics having a comparatively quiet place in campus life.

Bard- Pretty close to Vassar...very artsy/hip
Sarah Lawrence- Not far from NYC, quirky/liberal student body
Hamilton- Upstate NY...gorgeous campus & cute town...huge focus on writing.
Muhlenburg-Probably the easiest to get into (of these 4)...very "service oriented" campus....it's known as "The Caring College"
