Vassar Transfer Fall 2013

I agree with 2013Transfer, you definitely shouldn’t go into freshman year planning on transferring.

I was also waitlisted (last year) and I was crushed and couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else, but I had to suck it up and try to be happy. I went to my second favorite school and I really did try to make the best of it, but I’m not totally happy here and I still have my heart set on Vassar. That being said, if it doesn’t work out for me and I have to stay at my current school, it won’t be the worst possible thing in the world (although I really will be crushed–again) because I threw myself into this school, even though it wasn’t my ideal situation, and I made good friends and have a life here. And if, after trying really hard, you still want to be at Vassar, you can try to transfer.

No school is perfect, there are just some really good fits, but like 2013Transfer said, there’s more than one of those.

Good luck!

Thank you for your help!!! It’s not that I think Vassar is the only school for me, it just is my top school and always has been. I applied to a few other schools i would love to go to, but got rejected from them so I’m sort of holding out for the last one I really loved. My current plan is to try to love whatever college I end up going to, and if it doesnt work out i know I have an alternative. Thank you thank you for answering and

GOOD LUCK I HOPE YOU MAKE IT

ps I talked to someone on the campus who was a transfer, so ya know, transfer applicants being accepted isn’t just a myth. I got PROOF

Thank you! Good luck next year and all.

Anyone hear anything about a decision date?

Thanks Fosicle, good luck to you too!

Still no word about decision date, but last year on May 4th the applicants got this email: “Please check back for your decision on May 11th at 4:00pm,” so I’m assuming sometime around the 11th

Hopefully- I sent an email asking about the notification date because I have a William & Mary deposit due on the 15th, but they haven’t responded (…yet).

Just got a response, actually, and they said it’s looking like May 13th.

That’s cutting it close! But hopefully they’re right (or wrong and it’s sooner) and you’ll have time. 10 more days!

May 13th it is! From the app checklist: “At this late stage in the application process, the online checklist for fall transfer applicants to Vassar has been closed. Please check back for your decision on May 13th at 4:00pm.”

Am I the only one regretting applying to Vassar? (Probably.) It just seems crazy impossible to be one of less than 10% to get accepted. The odds are crazy and unfavorable.

Good luck to everyone! I’m feeling a bit down about the whole thing.

@Fosicle: I decided to apply for transfer in November of my freshman year because my school just wasn’t the right fit. I still had a great year and met my best friend but I knew I couldn’t stay. Vassar was my top choice until I got into NYU, visited there, and fell in love. I already put down my deposit, so even if I get into Vassar, I’ll be giving up my spot.

Honestly, I think that most transfer dreams don’t end up coming true. It’s a very tricky process and a lot of my fellow transfer applicants have ended up disappointed. That doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try, though. I didn’t think I’d get in anywhere, and now I’m enrolled in my dream school! Just don’t put all your eggs in one basket, if you know what I mean.

Tomorrow!!! Good luck everybody!

Only two hours until most of us get rejected! Okay, sorry for being negative, but Vassar is notorious for low transfer acceptance rates. Good luck to everyone!

I’m so nervous, I have no idea what to do with myself for the next hour!
