Vast difference in degree of difficulty to transferring?

Okay, so my basic college situation now is to choose between James Madison, Virginia Tech, and UIUC. I am going to be majoring in business (undecided, most likely) in all three schools. After not getting into UVA or Berkeley, I plan to transfer either my first year or second year out to UVA, Berkeley, or my ambitious choice, UPenn. My current interest right now is in accounting, and I know how prestigious UIUC is in accounting, but I would still rather attend Wharton my final two or three years of undergrad. What would make this task more feasible? Attending UIUC, or attending Tech or Madison. I am completely aware that whatever school I end up going to, it will take amazing grades to transfer into the schools I want to get into. However, I still need to take tuition into account, so how much of a difference would it make in transferring between these three schools I currently can enroll into?

Why transfer to schools which don’t even have accounting as an undergrad degree? Illinois is one of the top schools, and has a great business school overall for undergrads. You can read in taxguy’s thread that where you attend college for accounting doesn’t matter, as long as it is accredited. Why be obsessed with “prestige” when it doesn’t apply to your field? Do Illinois or an accredited college in the area you wish to work in after you graduate.

All entry level public accounting jobs make roughly the same amount. Its not the school that you attended that determines how much you will make. It depends mostly on the city and the size of the firm. However, you should probably find out which firms hire from that particular school and how the job placement is.
