VC or Wealth Management

I am a first year student looking to break into Investment Banking. For my summer internship, would I be better off getting a UBS wealth management internship, a Citi Family internship, or an internship with a small VC firm which has probably never been heard of. The work I'd be getting I'd assume would be more meaningful at the VC firm but I'm concerned about the name on my resume since this would be my first college internship.

Thanks for your help.

No idea what a Citi Family internship is but unless you plan to be a wealth manager take the VC job.

VC for sure, no doubt.

Citi Family Group deals with ultra high net worth clients as well as liquidity events. This in turn results in a lot of interaction with Investment Bankers (at least for the full time employees…I don’t know how much interaction I will have).

I would actually take the UBS internship and leverage the name/contacts. My friend worked at a small VC firm in Philadelphia and said it was a pretty big waste of time because he didn’t learn anything that was applicable to banking.

To employers who understand the structure, the name when assosiated with PWM does not matter. All the big name firms have tons of PWM’s strung across the Coutry who have absolutely nothing to do with ibanking. You will, in the vast majority of cases, not get any contacts to leverage.
