I have a few questions concerning the articulation agreement with UVA and the VCCS.

I started off in Chester, Virginia at John Tyler Community College, where Ive earned 49 of the 63 credits needed for the associated degree. I was on track with the counselors at Tyler for the UVA agreement, that is, theyd help with advice on which classes would transfer, and in return Id maintain the required gpa.

The counselor at Tyler told me only two semesters of a foreign language would be required for the articulation agreement. Since Tyler didnt offer the foreign language I wanted to take I decided to transfer to Piedmont Virginia Community College, which would also make the transition to UVA an easier one.

I now know UVA wants not only two, but four semesters worth of foreign language. At the end of the spring 2009 semester Ill have enough credits for the associates, but will be short the 201 and 202 classes.

Will UVA still allow me to come in under the agreement? Id hate to have to take the 201 class fall 2009, and the 202 one in spring 2010, then transfer to UVA in fall 2010. Taking just two classes over the span of a year would be quite depressing.

Another question: Im an English major, and was wondering if its possible to transfer in, with the VCCS agreement, to the BA/MA program? The English departments website says that you need a 3.6 gpa in the major, which I have, but it also says the GRE is required when should I take this? Do you apply, take graduate courses along with your undergrad ones, then after a semester or two take the GRE and submit the scores?

Thanks for your time
