Anyone transferring to W&M? I applied, but now im a bit scared becuase I just found out I have to send mid semester grades. I thought I read through everything thouroughly. They are 'A's, but its past the due date.

I have cum GPA of 3.8, SGA president, mentored teenagers, wrote good essays, took reeeallly hard course work. You guys think i stand a chance?

I would call them up first thing tomorrow and ask if you can send them your mid-semester grades. I can almost guarantee you will get in otherwise. I got in as a transfer with a 3.7, a decent essay and no extras.

Were you accepted under the VCCS guaranteed agreement or were you attending a non-VCCS University when you applied? Your response would be greatly appreciated.

Mbiology- I was attending a VCCS school, but I did not get in under the agreement. From what I understand, if you have over a 3.5, they have to have an obscure reason not to let you in, even if you don't go through with the agreement.

Thank you for your quick response! You've given me hope because I am attending James Madison University and I earned a 4.0 GPA for Fall Semester and should maintain that for Spring. I've done everything possible such as participating in clubs and getting two great recommendation. The only thing that worries me is my high school GPA which was a 3.7. I heard that they will be sending out the decisions soon.

I wouldn't let it worry you. You sounds like a very competent student and I'm sure the admissions committee will look favorably upon your application. If you can maintain a GPA that high AND you are in-state, I would be very surprised if they didn't admit you, regardless of your high school record. I know people who were out-of-state applicants with lower GPAs and from far less impressive schools than JMU and they managed to get in.

I was going to say "good luck," but I don't think you will need it!

The only things I have going against so far is 1) I dropped out of highschool. 2) I haven't sent my mid-semester grades in. (I cant do it til Tuesday)

I think the fact that I got my GED will show strong determination on my part, but Im pretty sure they wont accept me if I overlooked a small fact like turning something in. Whatcha think, guys?

Ercmilla- I would call admissions ASAP and explain the situation. If you wait until Tuesday you could be compromising your chances of admission. Even if you can't get it until then, it would be best to contact them.

Ercmilla! You seriously rock! Great job getting your GED and now aspirations for William and Mary! This alone will make you stand out. William and Mary has a very personable and accessable admissions department. Call them NOW! Explain your entire situation. You deserve to get in and would do great. You've got a head start on determination. I am very impressed and hope that you will post back and share with us the minute you are accepted. Don't let anything stop you......................GED to William and Mary...................Rock ON!!!

hey pedsox - thanks for the encouragment! haha. Yea, I am going to call them asap to explain the situation. I know theyre deciding on the transfers right now at the admissions office, so hopefully theyll pick me eventho i havent sent in my mid-semester grades yet.

I also applied to UVA and reallly hope I get into that school as well. Thanks.

Dang man...thi si a dream come true. I only have to hear back from UVA now and ill be all set. I did not send in my mid-semester grades btw and still got in - so i guess they dont really NEED them if your curriculum and gpa are strong. Im speechless! haha

yes, i understand the date problem, but i expect to get UVa's decision before May 1sr. They are sending them out in the near future from my understanding.

@croquepotte did you have a good gpa in high school because I want to transfer to W&M but I’m worried about that they’ll look at my high school transcript
