I have a 3.1 gpa, 1100 SAT score, & 21 ACT…
I applied in November and still have not received anything… To the people who have been accepted, what were your stats (GPA, SAT, ACT) and when did you hear back! Thanks :))
I also applied in late November and still haven’t received anything. MY stats are also close to yours.
I called to try to see if I could get any information at all, and they told me that they could only tell me if my application was complete which I already knew it was. So tired of waiting
I have a 3.51 weighted gpa…I applied test optional so, I did not send my act or sat scores…I applied around the beginning of November and I did not hear back from them until January 16
Congratulations! Thanks for your reply

@daylightskies I just received my decision, you’ll definitely get in! @RicFlairDrip congratulations!
Accepted Today!
My D has 3.8uw gpa, 32 ACT. Didn’t get her acceptance until a few days ago. Grades and such don’t seem to be a factor in when you here. Could be dependant on the program. My D applied digital art in VCUART, all her friends who applied studio art heard quickly, while kids who applied graphic design and digital art seem to be hearing now.
PhilipM congrats on the VCUARTS acceptance. Our D is a soph graphic design major at VCUARTS. FYI students are admitted as freshman to the foundation arts program for the entire freshman year. In the spring of that year they use the art made during that experience (and grades) to first apply for a major.
@stones3 Could you share with me your D’s Foundation experience? I have heard it’s very intense. I like to think that the Foundation students bond with each other during this time. My son was just admitted to VCU Arts and he’s looking forward to it. I’m just curious about what he can expect. He also intends to pursue a Graphic Design degree.
sbgal2001 So my d experience was good. I would say that the biggest thing is that students really need to put out their best efforts and never submit hastily put together assignments. Having said that, the work load is large and if a student hasn’t had the experience of making art all day long several days per week --well , it could take some getting used to.
They do use it to weed out the less serious students , so as long as the student does their work (doesn’t fall behind)
and makes a good effort to be involved they should be ok. D got a lot from it as she was exposed to different aspects of design/art making, some she liked (like photography) . As far as GD goes he should know going into it that it is very competitive for spots as only aprox 64 students are admitted each year.
Having said that, she had a great time and is very happy she decided to attend VCUARTS over the other schools.
Key points— check out RAM Camp --its a leadership camp that takes place about a week prior to freshman move in.
D did it and it was a good experience and let her get acclimated early and meet other students(from all of VCU) before thousands of kids return. Housing- she did the artist colony. She scored a great big room and really liked it.
lastly- get involved. It’s entirely up to the student to reach out to clubs, teachers, extra lectures, opportunities etc. The more involved the better.
Feel free to pm if you have more questions or want further detail on anything.
Congrats.
