Are you in state for Virginia?

No I’m an Instate for Maryland

You have wonderful extracurriculars and strong record. You have a small chance, since last year, VCU Honors GAP for medicine accepted 30 out of more than 600 applicants or less than five percent.

Keep up your hard work and have back up plan. Many colleges will want you to enroll and pursue pre med.

Stats found here. https://honors.vcu.edu/admissions/guaranteed-admission/gmed-app/

Ok! Thank you! Do u know any other bs md programs at different schools that I have a shot at?

I agree with everything @hippobirdy said.

There are a number of helpful BS/MD threads on CC…here is this year’s: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/2143599-official-thread-for-2020-bsmd-applicants.html

Prior year threads will also have some good info. Here is 2019 general thread http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/2081864-thread-for-bsmd-applicants-2019-p1.html and results thread: http://talk.qa.collegeconfidential.com/multiple-degree-programs/2126726-bs-md-results-class-of-2019-p1.html

Generally, BS/MD programs have single digit acceptance rates with average stats much higher than their posted minimums. You have good stats and volunteer experience, but your SAT is below average for these programs. See the link hippobirdy posted for the VCU program—1510 was the average SAT last year which puts your 1330 below the 25%ile…successful applicants with lower test scores likely have a hook (URMs, low SES, etc.)

A few other things:

-For pre-med you may want to consider a school where your stats are in the top 25% of enrolled students. Conventional thinking is that relatively stronger students have the best chance of maintaining a high GPA in med school required classes…because those students will likely fare best in difficult courses with challenging grading curves.

-For BS/MD programs make sure to understand the requirements for staying in the program…some of them can require very high stats to remain in the program (see WashU).

-Choose a major you like so that you can keep your GPA high, but also have plans B and C…meaning, choose a major that will allow you to get a job, should the med school thing not work out.

-Minimize undergrad debt, because med school is expensive ($300K+), with limited merit and/or need-based aid. Consider U Maryland, your state flagship school for undergrad.

-Remember that most doctors did not attend BS/MD programs

@Pcmsgraduating14

Since you are current cycle student and already applied, there is nothing much you can do in areas like test scores, gpa. (if you are a junior, then it makes sense to take SAT again or ACT). At this stage enjoy your HS experience, do well your HS courses, prepare for interviews.

95% of students get in to MD via regular route. @Mwfan1921 has posted an excellent summary.

Hi my daughter has a 34 ACT and 3.97 UW. What are her chances?
