<p>Yes, the graphic design department is well respected as is their art department. HOWEVER, you really need to check them out. It is in an unsavory area with a lot of unsavory types hanging around. They have a number of "helpful" folks who wanted to relive me of my spare change!</p>
<p>The School of the Arts is VCU's best and most respected school. They take a lot of pride in it. I agree with taxguy, though, in that you need to visit the school itself to see if you like downtown Richmond. It isn't for everyone. While Eugene Trani (the school's soon to be former president) tried to purchase and build anew on almost all of the neglected/run down areas near campus, there are still many areas where you need to be very cautious. It has improved a lot, though, and offers a top flight art education at a very affordable price.</p>
<p>Also....is it hard to get accept? If you have a good portfolio but a bad GPA would they reject you?</p>
