I'm not going to post my essay here, but please please let me know if you'd be willing to read it and offer some advice!

I know it could be considered a somewhat controversial topic to some avid meat lovers. But I tried to focus the essay more on why I personally am passionate about being a vegan, because I care about the world and want to take responsibility. I tried to avoid coming of as preachy or pretentious but I don't know if I can judge that as well as someone with a different perspective so ANYWAYS I guess what I'm trying to say is, any (not rude) advice on writing about this topic would be really appreciated! Thank you!

Also, I'm applying to a top 20 school to major in Nutrition and minor in Global Health.

Thank you! I’ll message it to you now :)

It is helpful to know that you plan to major in nutrition – although make sure that the “majors” you mentioned are actually offered (a lot of colleges do not offer a “major” in either of those).

That said, be sure your essay is about YOU and tells something more specific than just how much you want to protect the world, etc. An essay with a focus on a specific incident or story, or a couple of stories that show an evolution in thinking is more revealing than one that just generally tells them what you think about the topic.

This school is one of the only schools I found with that major/minor combination! :)

I see what you’re saying there. I tried to include mini anecdotes and my reasoning behind my beliefs, rather than just saying “meat is murder” haha. Thank you for the advice, if you’d like to read it let me know!

Wait, is this a common app topic or a college specific topic ?

Common app! It’s either an answer to the question about the background story that identifies you or the one about challenging an idea, I haven’t really decided on that part yet haha

I’ll read it. And be careful about who u send it too :)

I would love to read it!
